"Listen," he whispered. "We're getting married in three days."
I gasp. This was too soon to get married. This was so in the middle of things and it was almost impossible to hold such an event. The Aurors could swoop down on us anytime and kill us. Death eaters would be on missions during the wedding and it would be impossible to have a peaceful atmosphere even on the day itself. Who knows when everything will be gone? Things were way too risky to have such an event take place. It was so in the middle of things.
"Okay," was all I could say. It's not that I didn't want to be bound to someone for life, it was just that I wanted a real wedding. One that I would never forget until the day I leave the world. But since it was he who wanted it, we had to do it one way or another. We didn't have a choice. Resistance only meant one thing - death or torture. I cringe at the thought of being under his hold, under his power but aren't I already? I shake those thoughts away from my head and discard of them temporarily. My mind turns back to the situation. We needed to get everything prepared for the wedding.
Before I could do anything else, a stab of pain finds its way up my arm and I grip it tightly before I build up walls around my mind, protecting it from infiltration. Both Draco and I apparated back to the Malfoy Manor. We were back in the room where we had the meeting not long ago.
"Potter and the others of the Order are moving him tonight," Snape said loudly before anyone could take their seats. The Dark Lord was there. A sneaky grin appeared on his face and he chuckled before he rubbed his hands together.
His fact turned serious before he sneered, "Let's get going then!"
Draco and I grab our broomsticks from our room using the summoning charm, hop onto them before ascending into the cold night air. Thank God I was wearing my sweater that night. We fly and we roam around the skies to see if there were other wizards on their brooms as well. It was night and hard to see in the dark sky. I squint around and I see a small ball of fire in the distance. I race forward in my broom and two others followed me - Draco and Bellatrix. My eyes focus on the small ball of fire and it gets larger as I got closer. Before I knew it, flashes of light were bouncing off from each wand. From the left to the right. I take my wand out in defense and I saw a sidecar attached to a motorcycle. Harry Potter. I remember how Hermione told me about Hagrid and how he was close to him. But there were so many Potters. This made no sense. I followed my instincts and followed the sidecar. I cast a curse on that Potter when another one came and took it for the one I aimed for. What the hell is going on? I notice that the Potter that took the curse had a bleeding ear and I realise it was my fault. I felt guilty so I layed low for a while, silently following the sidecar. I try my best to camouflage myself between the trees and in the darkness. I notice that no one was following me now. Draco and Bellatrix must have been carried away by someone else.
The sidecar wasn't disturbed and neither was I. We flew over the city silently and we soon came to a silent stop. I was outside the Burrow. I land myself within the tall grass that surrounded the land around the Burrow. Memories flashed into my mind as I took in the sight of the warm glow from the house of the Weasleys. I hated them, sure, but I had this longing for a family now that mine was certainly incomplete without my father. I crouched down low and stumbled over some rocks as I made my way over down to the side of the Burrow. I hide along the sides of the walls with my broom in my hand. I'd need a quick retreat if they found I was there. I peek around down to the side and I see Potter and Hagrid stumbling over down to Mrs Weasley who welcomed them warmly. I heard them mumble a few words of welcome and well-being before more came. Slowly, one by one, seven of them turned from Potter to their own people. One that caught my eye was Hermione. She too turned into a Potter but she turned back into herself when she arrived at the Burrow. I'd recognise that warm smile anywhere.
They all went into the house when one of the Weasley twins arrived with a bloody ear. When everyone was inside, I found myself sitting at the window nearest to them and I could hear every word they said.
"How are you, George?" I heard one twin say to his brother.
"Holey," was all he said before the faintest of words were said when the whole room laughed a little.
Only then did it slap some sense into me - death eaters are just the puppets of a scheme planned by the Dark Lord. It made me want to jump off the nearest cliff or die scrubbing the mark off my forearm. I get up and sigh before I leave the corner deciding never to tell a soul about my little vacation to the Burrow. I wanted them to be safe. Yes, I had conflicting alliances but what harm would that do to others but myself? It would only give him a harder time figuring out what the Order was up to and more time for the Order to find ways to either hide Potter and his friends or find a way to destroy the Dark Lord which didn't seem that bad an idea in this moment of time.
I apparated back to the Manor and I find myself in an empty house. I make my way up to my room which I shared with Draco. I find him there, pacing back and forth, his thumb and forefinger pinching his bottom lip in worry. When he sees me, he rushed forward and hugs me so tight it was hard for me to breath.
"Oh my god," he whispers. "Thank God you're alright."
"I'm fine," I tell him, smiling. "Really."
"We couldn't find you and we thought you were cursed and died or something," he said. His eyes wore an expression of relief as I pushed his blond hair back from his pale and sweaty forehead.
"I won't die," I assure him though it was certainly useless to say something like that in the current situation. Either of us could be dead at any moment.
We could only live in the now.
