Chapter 21: Sean
I dug through my purse for the silver key to my house. It should have been on my key chain yet I had no clue where it went, probably in the bottom of my purse somewhere. Where everything seems to go when I need it the most. A single rain drop fell and clung to my hair.
"You have to be kidding me!" I yelled up into the sky before rummaging yet again through my purse.
My hands swiped through gum packets, lip gloss, spare change. Where the hell is the key?!
"Fuckkkkk!" I whined feeling the rain grow heavier as my hands dug deeper into my purse. Finally I retrieved the key did a short shimmy for a victory dance and waltzed inside.I walked into the house greeted by the smell of cookies.
It didn't take long to know my mother was cooking. The aroma just testified of her presence in the kitchen. As I was walked in I took in the dark living room with no lights on, I knew I was right. I walked further into my house and turned into the hallway. Sure enough, every light in the kitchen was on."I want some Mom! Dad that means save me at least two!" I yelled from the hallway. As I walked into the kitchen I saw Mom and Dad laughing and giggling at each other.
I hadn't yet stepped all the way through the threshold of the door. Instead, I hung back in the shadows watching my parents. Dad then swopped down and kissed Mom.
"Angela thank you for being my wife." Dad said to Mom brushing her hair out of her face.
"You are welcome Greg. Thank you for being my other half." Mom said to Dad this time. I blushed.
I never knew my parents were still so in love with each other. I giggled and forgot about the cookies.
My parents were grand. And even with fluctuating work schedules I was proud to know true love still existed. I watched as dad and mom just looked at each other.
There eyes easily reflecting off of each other as if they just met.I raced to my room and was just about to barge through the door when I heard laughter and clanking coming from downstairs. If I had to guess the once then kitchen was now dirtied by a cookie war.
I knew the best answer was to retreat into my room, and I had just walked in when I noticed little notes everywhere. I carefully read them all and blushed at each one.All from Junior, my heart started fluttering. Butterflies wound themselves throughout my stomach. It was like I was in a dream and with every note I read I began to drift higher into the clouds. I blushed a deep shade of red.
Maybe Junior has changed. Maybe there was a chance for us after all. We were never meant to be friends. We had such a deep connection it had to have been designed by the heavens for our infinities to collide. He had to be my ever after... Right?
-- without a doubt in my mind. I fell asleep with blissful dreams of the boy who had once been my childhood best friend.I awoke Monday morning to the sight of Mom hanging over me and Dad behind her with a water cooler.
I smiled and laughed, " I love you guys."
"Wait you weren't frightened at all?" Mom asked then looked at dad and they both busted out laughing. Putting the water cooler to the side and retreating back down the stairs already whispering to each other of different tactics for next time.
It was Monday I was in the best mood I think I could ever be in at this time. Junior had a date with me after school. Everything was just right in my world. I declare Monday to be the BEST day of the week now.
I pushed my way out of bed. A song repeating itself over and over in my head, I grabbed my ipod and plugged it into my speakers.
Today Was A Fairytale by Taylor Swift filled my room and caused me to sing along dancing my way around my room while getting ready.
A few butt shakes and air guitar moves later, I danced my way to my closet. Throwing a shirt over my shoulders and sliding it down, and then I settled on some fitted jeans.
I twirled around in the mirror, "yes to the jeans no to the shirt" I said aloud and then paced through my closet looking for a new shirt. I had found a turquoise v neck and slid it on and completed the look with my casual vans. I spun in circles out of my closet and into my bedroom and sat at my makeup chair. Slowly I did my contouring, highlight, and smokey eye before settling and curling my hair.
