Chapter 7

"Whats going on?" my father asked. "Awe hell no, what happened to yo face?" Jeremy asked. He turned my face towards him and examined my cuts. Jayriah cut her eyes at me. I shook my head and told them what happened at Nana's house. "She hit Nana?!?!" Jayrian and Jayriah asked in unison. "This bitch done lost her mind!" my father mumbled. He grabbed his keys and walked out the door, Jayrian and Jeremy right at his heels. Riah followed me upstairs and looked at my stomach. "Simone is that a pudge I see?" she asked as I laid on the bed. I smiled, "Yes" I said rubbing my little baby bump. "A nephew I hope!" Riah said excitedly. My phone started ringing, it was a private number but I answered anyway.

Me: "Who is this?"

Mario: "Damn, you rude"

My heart jumped and I paused.

Me: "H-how you get this number Mario?"

Jayriah sat up and her eyes got big. 'That's Mario?' she mouthed. I nodded and putting him on speaker phone.

Mario: "Its not important, where my kids at and why you been dissing a nigga? You get a nigga and you forget them my kids too"

Me: "I didn't forget"

Mario: "So why I ain't heard from you in two years? I had to get yo number from yo crack head ass mama. Then I heard you got my babies calling this nigga daddy"

Me: "Mario you wasn't ready and you made that very clear!"

Mario: "I just had to get my mind right Simone, but I came right back you had already moved on and left Nana's house"

I didn't know what to say so I got quiet and looked at Riah.

Mario: "So can I see my girls and meet the nigga you got my kids calling daddy?"

Me: "Yes"

Mario: "Alright Imma hit you later. I still love you Simone"

Before I could respond he hung up. "Hows Damon gonna feel about this?" Riah asked. "How I'm gone feel about what?" Damon asked coming into the room. I looked at Riah. "Umm Mario just called me" I said waiting for a reaction. Damon's face held no emotion so I continued. "He wants to see the girls" I said. I saw a flash of hurt in his eyes but he shook it off. "Well, I can't stop you from letting the man see his kids" Damon said looking kind of down. "He wants to meet you too" I said looking him in the eyes. Damon nodded and left out the room. "He looks so sad" Riah whispered as we watched him walk down the hall to the girls' room. I sighed, it was only right to let Mario be in his daughter'os lives but Damon was the only father they ever knew. Serenity even favored him. "Its been so long since Mario seen the girls and I been keeping them away for far too long" I whispered back and then I got up and followed him. The girls we're sleep and Damon was just standing in the door way watching over them. I touched his shoulder and he turned around and looked at me. "He'll never take your place" I assured him. "I can't compete where there isn't any competition, he gone always win. They came from him" Damon said. "But I'm their eyes, you'll always be their daddy" I said kissing Damon. He put his head down and walked away.

Damon P.O.V

I really can't stomach Mario coming back around. I know this day was going to come eventually but I didn't expect it so soon. I love Serenity and Mahogany with everything on me. Its not that I don't want them to meet their dad, because they deserve to make their own opinion of him. Simone tried to comfort me and make me feel better about it but I just couldn't shake the feeling. Kortez came over and sat with me. "Yo I ran into that nigga Mario" Kortez said. "I don't wanna hear nothing about him right now!" I snapped. The doorbell rang and Simone went and opened it. "Daddy's home!" Trigg said said walking in my house. My mouth almost dropped, I know that's not Mario!
