"Carrie, that's-" Mom didn't know what to say.
"Impossible, I know." I had just told Mom, Dad, and Rose, about my experience. "But it happened."
"Turn into a wolf!" Rose said. "C'mon, I wanna see it!"
"Ok," I sighed.
I will become a wolf.
I Morphed into a wolf.
Now everyone seemed to take me seriously.
I Morphed back into a human.
"See?" I said. "It's strange, but I can do it."
Everyone was quiet for a moment.
"Is it possible you have multiple Morph forms?" Mom asked. "I mean, it hasn't happened at all as far as we know, but it sure looks that way."
"Carrie, is that why you asked me about more than one Morph form?" Dad asked.
I nodded.
"That's so cool," Rose breathed.
"Here," Dad showed me his phone. "That's the prophecy. Read it out loud."
"Here is the Prophecy of Cary. A few words have been changed to make it easier to read.
'Salvator shall rise, Salvator gifted with every Morph form on Earth, Salvator shall save.'
That's all it says." I put down the phone. "Kind of a weird prophecy."
"Is my sister the Salvator?" Asked Rose, eyes huge and sparkling.
"Well, we don't know." Mom said. "We'd have to wait and see how many Morph forms she discovers."
"But the prophecy said 'every Morph form on Earth'. That's every animal!" I exclaimed. "I hate discovering new forms, it makes me feel like I'm sick. Will I have to go through that before discovering every single animal? That's a lot."
"Well, what would probably happen is you would be sick nonstop for a couple of days, then you would get a burst of forms at once." Dad said. "Well, if you were the Salvator."
"Would I still get to go to Jennings?" I asked.
Jennings Prep is a 5-star private boarding school for Morphs only, and the closest one to us. Jennings starts in 7th grade, and goes until 12th grade. I really want to go there.
"It would be difficult to hide your multiple forms, and you don't want the whole school knowing you can do that, because awful things can happen if the information gets in the wrong hands." Dad said. "You'd need some training before you can go, but once you can handle your ability, I don't see why not."
"You'd have to tell everyone your Morph is a fox." Mom told me. "And only turn into a fox when there's company."
"Sounds easy enough, if I can train." I said.
After all, lying has always come easily to me. Not a gift I'm necessarily proud of, but it comes in handy.
"Then, okay." Mom nodded. "You'll train for a month, then you can go to Jennings. Jennings doesn't start the school year until then anyways."
"And in that month?" I asked.
"You'll be homeschooled. We don't want you Morphing into a wolf at Cary Middle, either." Mom said.
Cary Middle is my current school.
"Ok." I said.
After our conversation, I told Sara about everything over video chat. There was no point lying to Sara, she saw me turn into a wolf.
"So they think you're the Salvator?" Sara gaped. "Carrie, that's big! You could save the WORLD!"
"The prophecy never said the Salvator, assuming it's me, would save the world. It just said the Salvator would save." I corrected her.
"So you have two Morph forms?" She said. "That's cool as it is, Salvator or not."
"Yeah, I guess it is. But I'd have to lie to everyone at Jennings." I told her. "My cover story is simple- I'm a Morph and I discovered my Morph form, a fox, on my thirteenth birthday, just like everyone else."
"Speaking of that, I never got to see you as a fox." Sara said. "Show me,"
"Ok," I said. "And I've been practicing, so it'll be easier."
I had been practicing in my room ever since training, using the statement technique, and I've been improving. Right now I'm working on Morphing mid-jump, because it's just plain cool. But I've been having trouble, I always Morph when I've already landed.
I Morphed into a fox for Sara, and I showed off a bit by jumping on and off of furniture and chasing the white tip on my red tail.
"Cool!" Sara smiled in awe. "That's awesome,"
I Morphed back. "Thanks,"
Sara and I talked some more, then we ended the video chat and I practiced Morphing mid-jump some more, and failed.
Maybe in order to Morph mid-jump, I need to learn how to Morph without reciting a whole sentence in my brain. If I can Morph with just the thought of it, it'll be faster, and easier for me to Morph mid-jump.
Sounds like I got some practicing to do...
