When I woke up, I immediately began to freak. I wasn't in my dorm. I wasn't even in Jenning's. I pinched myself. Nope, not still dreaming.
My headache was gone. That was good, I guess. But I need to figure out where I am.
I looked around. I was in a room. It had cement walls and those fluorescent lights that you find in government-sponsored schools and office buildings that make it feel like a prison. There was a door, just a regular wooden door, at the opposite wall. I was in a chair. I stood up. I wasn't tied or bound to the chair in any way.
"She's up." I heard a muffled female voice say, from outside the room.
"Excellent." Another voice, still female, said in response.
Then the door swung open to reveal two women, followed by several other adults, a mixture of men and women.
Something was up and I didn't like it. I needed to get back to Jenning's.
"Carrie Martin, correct?" The woman who had said "Excellent" before asked.
"No, actually, there's been a mistake, I'm actually, uh, Bella Faye." I lied, saying the name that came to my mind the fastest.
"Don't play games, we know your name is Carrie Martin, and we know you obtained all Morph forms just this morning." The woman said.
They want my powers.
I was scared.
"If you want my powers, you're not going to get them." I said, trying to act brave.
The woman laughed. "It's not your powers we want, child. It's you."
Me? Uh oh.
"What do you mean?" My voice shook as I said it.
"We're an organization of people who can do exactly what you can-- Morph into any form we choose. It's certainly a rare trait, and most people have never heard of it. We'd like to keep it that way. A long time ago, a Multi-Morph, as we call ourselves, made up some prophecy about a Multi-Morph... I don't know the whole thing, don't care either. It's fake." The woman said. "Anyways, we don't necessarily like Single-Morphs. The feud started generations ago, now is when we're taking action. Our first target is your stupid school, Jenning's, is it called? Full of Singles. We only discovered that there was a Multi in that school a couple days ago. Just one Multi... You. We want you to help us. Maybe, if you so please, even join us. Leave behind your past life and have a new one, a better one, with us. We could always use a new recruit. You'd be the youngest on our team, which gives you an advantage. A young mind could help us. For now, however, you'll just be our spy. Give us information, help us into Jenning's. We'll offer you a very promising reward. I'm talking more money than your little young mind could fathom. So, what do you say?"
Um, is she crazy? Nuh uh.
"And what if I decline?" I asked.
"Then we destroy you when we destroy your petty school." The woman threatened.
"I'll take that option, please." I said.
The woman hissed.
"Fine. But we can't let you go back to Jenning's now. It's too risky that you'll warn someone about our plans." The woman looked behind her. "Tie her up."
