You were walking down the boardwalk listening to music. The sun was setting over the water, making it a orangeish red. You occasionally stopped and looked over the horizon, taking in all of nature's beauty.

Just then a man walked up next to you and did the same thing as you. He would look out over the rails at the sunset and sigh as if this was the last time he'd ever see the sun.

You blasted your music into your ears to block out all sounds. It had started to get chilly, but the music seemed to warm you up. This was probably the only time you'd ever use the shuffle button and not skip songs.

As the sun shone it's last rays of light, goosebumps started to form on your skin. You folded your arms and continued to stare out over the ocean.

The man was still there, but he was on the other side of you now, sitting at a bench. He held his head in his hands, shaking as if he was cold. You noticed he had a thin shirt on, and jeans. This man seemed to have just escaped some deranged prison and grabbed some clothes in a rush. But they were nice clothes.

A light buzzed above your heads as you saw the boardwalk light up. The lights made the walk look like some type of horror scene could happen here.

You were about to leave and wanted to make sure that the guy was alright.

"Hey buddy...are you okay?"

You stood your distance just in case he was some crazy guy. But you two had been near each other for almost half an hour now...He would have did something earlier.

He looks up slowly, tears stained his cheeks. His eyes met your as if to ask 'Who? Me?'. You take out your earbuds just in case he was going to actually say something.

"I..No. But don't worry about me. You should get home...it's getting late. I can cope."

You nod your head and start to walk away, the man clearly not wanting anyone to bother him. But then something tells you to turn back around and help him.

Images flashed in your head about your friend. The reason why you were out here in the first place. He told you everything was alright... But you found out earlier today entering his apartment that everything wasn't.

You didn't know this guy, but if he was going through something, you'd have to dare yourself to go away. You couldn't let another person do something like that.

"I'm not leaving you out here by yourself."

The man looked up harshly and meet your eyes with a cold glare.

"Then I will."

You watch as the man walks swiftly towards the rail. You realize he was going to jump. You start to run towards the man, just as he swung his legs over the rails.

He took a leap...

...but you grabbed him by his shirt.

He was heavy, but remembering what happened to Jacob you gain the strength to hold him.

"I'm not letting you do this!"
"Damn superwoman, can you let me jump in peace?"
"Never... I can't let this happen again, can't let it be my fault..."

You can feel the shirt start to stretch under the weigh. The man must have noticed to because he started to unbutton his shirt.

"Thank you for trying miss...but I have nothing else to live for."

The man plummets to his impending doom. You watch as the waves carry him out. Tear stain your face you start to blame yourself.

...But God decides to change it up.
