Chapter 8 A Christmas Surprise

It was a cold fall day in NYC. Everyone was bundled up walking the streets. Danny Reagan, and his partner, Baez were at the DA's office talking to Erin. "Look, just give us the subpoena, so we can go and catch this guy for murder." Erin looked at Danny with the "really?" look.

"Do you have any evidence?"

"Yes."

"Alright fine. I'll get you your subpoena."

"Thanks sis."

Erin went back work, and Danny made his way over to 626 Bridgestone Point over in Washington Heights. When he got there, is partner Baez was there.

He said "Hey, got the Subpoena. Let's roll."

Baez said "Ok. You know I still don't know how you guys manage to keep the one happy family reputation, when I've seen your not all that happy all the time."

Danny said "Well, no one can be happy ALL the time. But besides that, yes you're right, we-"

Danny got interrupted by a phone call. It was Erin again. Danny put her on speaker phone.

He said "Hello?"

Erin said "Hey, come back over here, your subpoena is ready."

Danny sighed and said, "Why didn't you just give it to me while I was there?!?!"

Erin said "No reason. Just come back."

Danny said "Oh my gosh. See ya soon. Bye."

Erin said "Bye."

Danny hung up and turned to Baez and said "Yep, one big happy family." Meanwhile back at the DA's office Erin was smiling from ear to ear. She loved getting on Danny's nerves. As she was thinking about how mad Danny was gonna be, she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in! Oh Mr. Shaw how nice to see you."

"Nice to see you to Ms. Reagan. Well I just came to tell you, your father and the APC-"

"Garrett."

"Yes, they are very busy and unfortunately, they will not be able to make your annual GTD celebration."

"Well why didn't they just call me? I mean sending you over here with that little bit of news was kind of a waste dont you think?"

"Im just doing my job. Besides I-"
As he said that there was a knock on the door. He said "Well i'll be going. Have a wonderful celebration. Bye now." Mr. Shaw left and as he was, Danny walked passed him and said "Shaw." Then he was gone. Danny said "Alright, im back. Where's the subpoena?"

Erin said "Right here."

As Danny was getting the subpoena, he got a phone call. It was Baez out in the car.

She said "Look, we don't have all day. So please hurry up."

Danny said "Yes ma'am. Well thanks AGAIN sis. Appreciate it. See ya Sunday for our little Christmas get together?"

Erin said "Yeah, about that. I guess you've been told that Dad and Garrett won't be coming because they will held up at work."

Danny said "You don't say. No I didn't know until now, but thanks for the update. I'll tell Linda and the kids. See ya." Danny made his way back to the precinct. He was going to get to work, yes, but first he was going to call Linda. Back the hospital, Linda was dealing with a drowsy patient. As she was, Danny called.  She said "Hello?"

Danny said " Hey, Erin told me that Dad's not going to be able to make Christmas because he has to work."

Linda said " Oh well, that's not right. Well, look Danny I'd love to talk, but I have to get this patient, Mrs. Tucker, another dosage of ibuprofen. She just had nose surgery."
