Doesn’t Chapter 3

Rose’s POV

Mackenzie and a male wolf were standing there, his hand around her wrist, a pained expression on his face. His fingers slowly left her skin and he stumbled back slightly, looking wounded. Mackenzie's head shook as she fell to the floor in a crumpled heap. I stood there in shock, hoping this wasn’t what I thought it was. I dashed to her side, dropping my bag next to her.

"Mackenzie! What’s wrong? What happened?” I asked frantically, helping her off of the filthy floor, pulling her into a hug.

"I rejected my mate." she said into my shoulder, sobbing and shaking.

This wasn’t good at all. I didn’t even know she had found her mate, let alone think about rejecting him. He didn’t look that bad, well before he got to the state he’s in now, I thought as I glanced over at him. His hands were over his head and he was hunched over, sitting on a bench. I shushed her gently, rubbing her back in comfort. "It's okay, just tell me about it when we get to the house," I told her.

I helped her to the car, half-carrying her in the process. As I neared the Jeep, a hoarse voice came from behind me. I turned my head and looked over my shoulder.

"I-I know she rejected me, and I promise to leave her alone as soon as I can, but in case she ever just wants to talk, here" He held out a slip of paper to me, numbers messily scrawled onto the sheet.

"Thank you," I said, taking the sheet and giving him a warm smile. "I'm sure she wasn't thinking-- she was probably just scared. I'll make sure to tell her to give you a call."

He nodded, running a hand through his blonde hair. "Thank you," he muttered, turning and walking off.

I looked down at Mackenzie. Her red eyes were closed, and she was frowning slightly. I sighed, hoisting her up onto my back. The Jeep wasn't far away, so I didn't have much trouble. I set her in the passenger seat, put her seatbelt on, and closed the door. I got in the car and leaned over, putting the crumpled piece of paper in her pocket.

"Just give him a chance," I muttered.

As soon as I got home, I got Mackenzie up to her room and in her bed.  I made my way to my room, changing into comfortable clothes and collapsing on my bed. As soon as I pulled the comforter around me, my phone vibrated. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand, and looked at the message.

Did you check your receipt?

That's a bit creepy. As I thought about it, I realized I only bought something from one store: Bath and Body Works. I got up and grabbed by purse, finding the receipt from my wallet. Sure enough, there was writing on the back, "Call me sometime? 555-867-4429 –Jaycee" But how did he get my number? That was a bit creepy. I set the paper down and typed my reply.

How did you get my number if you gave me yours?

Good thing there was no homework on the first day, because I fell asleep as soon as I got in my bed. I would deal with this strange boy tomorrow.

Jaycee’s POV

"Today was the best day of my life." I told my best friend, and Beta, Jay.

"I can tell!" He laughed. "You're in a better mood than most days. What happened? Should I get the doughnuts and Nutella so we can have a sleepover to talk all about it?" He said with hand motions and a mimicking voice.

I chuckled and sighed in content, "I may just take you up on that offer. Dude. I found her. I found my mate," I said, grinning like an idiot.

"My man!” He said, giving me a high five. “Congrats! What's her name? What’s she look like?"

"Her name is Rose Anguilla, and I’ll definitely bring her over here to meet you. She’s got long brown hair, a plump, button nose, full lips. I was at work, no customers in the store, we she walked in. The minute I caught her scent, I knew she was the one. There are some really fine girls out there, but none of them hit me with a scent as strong and as elegant as hers. I just wanted to pick her up and hug her, but I didn’t want to scare her off.  I wrote my number on her receipt but I just couldn't help myself, so I found her number and sent her a text. Now she probably thinks I’m a creep, but that won’t stop me from seeing her."  I felt like I was lecturing him, and I probably was. Just as he was about to respond, I got Rose's reply.

Rose

How did you get my number if you gave me yours?

I realized how much of a stalker I was being. I'm an Alpha, so I have access to everyone's everything and anything. I researched Rose, so that's how I got her number, but I wasn't going to tell her that. Then she would really think I’m a creep! I would die if she rejected me like her friend did. She rejected her mate within the first couple minutes of their meeting.  Rude, right?

How about we meet at the park behind Tropic Sands HS tomorrow at 4 to talk and hang out? We were only together for about 10 minutes today, and I want to see you again (:

I kept checking my phone for her reply, but it never came. I had to see her. It’s only been a couple of hours, but I just had to see her face. I found her address, so maybe I could just drop by. I told Jay I was heading out, and grabbed my keys. He opened the window for me and I jumped to the bed of my truck. I drove to her place and saw the light on in two rooms. There was a balcony, and I prayed it was hers. I didn’t want to get on her friend’s bad side already. I started to climb the vines on the tree in front of it and jumped on the railing. I pulled myself up and peered through the window for the tiniest view. I almost lost my grip; that was not Rose's room and her friend almost saw me.

I climbed onto the roof instead and saw a skylight. It was foggy, so I pressed my face to it and eventually saw Rose, sound asleep with her phone next to her. She must've fallen asleep texting me, I thought. I wish I could've kissed her on the forehead then and there, but I didn't want to get caught, so I sent her a message to wake up to.

Hope you slept well cutie (: Can't wait to see you this afternoon.
