Mackenzie POV

When I heard something hitting the glass door, I screamed, dropping the phone. My heart was pounding in my ears, so I hardly heard Blake screaming my name. I ran up to the door, sliding it open, and running onto the patio, looking around. "H-Hello?" I called. The sun was peaking through the trees, giving me just enough light to see two glowing eyes in the woods. I slowly walked forward, the leaves crunching under my feet. A growling noise came from the direction of the eyes, making me freeze. A large paw stepped out of the forest, making my blood turn to ice. It lept forward faster than I could register, making close my eyes. Next thing I knew, I felt a pressure on my lips, my blood turning back to fire. When the pressure disappeared, I looked up, gazing into the striking blue eyes of the only man I could ever love.

"Jason..." I breathed out.

He leaned forward, pressing his lips to mine again. I slipped my hands out of his grasp, rolling him over so I sat on his chest. "What the hell was that for?!" I asked, trying to calm my breathing.

He stood up, stepping back slightly, me sitting up.

He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Hey, Mackenzie...?"

I looked up at him. "Yeah?"

He cleared his throat, taking a deep breath. "Earlier- when you were talking about Jaycee... it made me think..."

I blushed slightly, brushing some of my hair behind my ear. "About what...?"

He looked over at me and I bit my lip, avoiding looking in his icy eyes.

"About us." He said, kneeling in front of me.

My face turned red as I looked at him. "And...?"

He sat down, wrapping his strong arms around my waist. "You know I didn't officially accept the rejection, right?"

My eyes widened. "W-What?"

He rested his chin on my shoulder, taking a deep breath. "I, Jason Wolf, as the future Alpha of the Moonlight Pack, reject your, Mackenzie Frost, rejection."

I closed my eyes, a chill going down my spine like my heart was being restored to its former state. "I, Mackenzie Frost, accept the rejection of my rejection by you, Jason Wolf."

A tingling went throughout my body, every nerve now aware of how close we were. My lips felt like they were on fire, begging to be kissed by him again. I wrapped my arms tightly around his shoulders, resting my head against his, and breathing in his scent. I heard something in the woods snap- hopefully a twig. My eyes snapped open as Jason pulled me up, pushing me behind him as he faced the woods, growling. A wolf came out of the woods, pitch black fur stretched over rippling muscles. My breath hitched in my throat as the ruby red eyes bored into mine.

"What're you doing on our land?" Jason demanded.

A deep rumbling sound came from the wolf's throat and as soon as the familiar voice filled my mind I felt my whole world come crashing down on me.

"Why, Z. I thought you said you didn't want a mate."

Yeah- it's not stopping here. But, ya know, vote. The contest is still going on, anyone can join! Now I'm just stalling to create suspense, though no one is gonna read this.

I looked up from my spot on the couch, Jason's large frame supporting me. I looked up at him, smiling when I saw his sleeping face. I leaned up, gently pressing my lips on his, sliding off the couch.

I turned around, a hand wrapping itself around my wrist. "Jason..." I warned quietly.

He pulled on my wrist, tugging me onto his lap. "I don't care..." he muttered tiredly, rubbing his nose on the crook of my neck.

I smiled at him, my face red. "Hey, Jace...?"

"Hhmmm...?" He hummed, vibrating my shoulder.

"Is this what it's like to have love?" I asked quietly, bringing my hand up to rest on his head.

I felt him smile against my neck, tilting his head slightly to look at me. "I guess so."

We sat there for a few minutes, just relishing in each other's presence, before a loud alarm sounded upstairs- signaling Rose had woken up. We shot off the couch, quickly sharing a kiss before he dashed out the back porch, shifting at the edge of the woods.
