Chapter 8
Mackenzie POV
After Jaycee left, I went up to my room, carrying a carton of Moose Tracks Ice Cream, a large spoon, a couple movies, and a box of tissues. I sat on my bed, turning on my bedside lamp, and put on the movie New Moon.
________
After watching New Moon, Spirit, Jurassic Park, and emptying a box of tissues and a carton of ice cream, I went to bed. I changed into a pair of Soffe’s and a black tank top. After putting the movies back into their cases, the ice cream container in the garbage shoot, the spoon on my dresser, my phone on its charger, I laid my body on the bed. I reached over and turned off my lamp, admiring the moon outside my window lighting up my room. I could faintly hear rustling in the kitchen, but I passed it off as Rose getting a snack. When the noise didn't stop, I flung the comforter off my body, rolled off the bed, and stormed to the door. I hastily brushed some of the stray hair out of my face and ran down the stairs.
"Rose Anguilla, I am trying to sleep!" I yelled, stomping into the kitchen.
My eyes came into contact with familiar icy blue eyes, causing my body to freeze. A chicken leg fell to the floor, the jaws holding it going slack. The floor under my feet felt like ice as my body temperature rose and my face turned red. The boy leaning over the fridge quickly stood up straight, closed the door, and picked up the chicken leg, tossing it in the trash.
"Um... hi?" I said.
His hand shot up to the back of his neck, rubbing it nervously. "Hi," he responded. His voice, or the floor, sent chills up my spine.
"What're you doing here?"
"Well, I kind of asked Jaycee what I should do and he said that I should come by and talk to you."
"Oh," I spit out, sounding more disappointed than I planned.
"Yeah," he drifted off.
"Wanna come up to my room?" I suggested.
"What do you have in mind?" he said, giving me a smirk.
I smacked him and said, “I can make you leave as fast as you broke in.” I spun on my heel, leading the future alpha to my room. On the way up the stairs, I played over what happened at the mall in my head. If I could take back what happened that day, I would. I closed my door behind him, sitting next to him on my bed.
"Listen, about what happened at the mall-"
"I know." He cut me off.
My eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
"I read your journal," he said, smiling nervously.
I flushed, "I knew I left my locker open..."
