Doesn't…? Chp4

Jason’s POV

Once the bell for school ended, I quickly headed out the door, to my car. I hopped in and changed the radio station.

"Hey cutie,” a voice called beside me.

I grimaced when I saw who it was. "Go away, Jen," I grumbled. Don't get me wrong, Jen was beautiful, but she was one of those girls who put herself in front of others. She was one of those girls that others dread confronting. She’s rude and when you’re on her bad side. Take my word, and don’t even befriend this girl.

When I pulled into the driveway of the Pack House, I smiled, seeing the familiar black motorcycle by the garage. "Lucas!" I called, running into the house. I grinned when I saw him sitting on the counter.

"Where’ve you been, man?" I asked while fist-bumping him.

He shrugged. “Here and there; I'm the pack Beta, remember? I have to make friends with the other packs."

After a long conversation about his travels, the question he always asked came up. But this time, I was prepared.

"Did you find your mate yet?" He asked.

I responded with a cheeky grin. His smug face turned into one of shock.

"Jason! Where is she?" He asked.

I shrugged. "I saw her in the hallway today at school. Don't know anything about her."

Lucas chuckled. "You'd better hunt her down tomorrow. What does she look like?”

I couldn't help the grin that spread across my face. After describing her, probably exaggerating a few times, it was time to get ready for work. I took a quick shower and sprayed on some Apollo Axe. I got dressed in a white wife beater, a red and black plaid muscle shirt, and some dark, ripped jeans. Walking down stairs, I saw Lucas on the couch with the other pack members. I slipped on my black Van’s, Ray Ban’s, and headed out the door.

________

I was sitting behind the check-out counter when something tugged at my senses and made me walk to the front of the store.

"Ma'am, there’s no food allowed in here," I heard Joseph say.

I ducked behind a rack of clothing when she walked by. She turned around and we made eye contact for the second time that day.

Her eyes widened, "You."

My wolf howled loud with joy. I felt my face brake out into a smile as I stepped forward, closing the space between us. I pulled her to me, burying my face in her hair, and breathed in her scent of ice and snow. What she did next made my heart shatter into billions of pieces-- she shoved me away.

Mackenzie’s POV

I heard my wolf whimper sharply, wanting to get closer to him. I clenched my eyes shut, preparing to do something I knew I would regret. I pushed him away from me, stumbling back slightly.

"No," I whimpered, shaking my head and backing away towards the door.

He started to walk towards me, holding his hand out.

"No!" I whimpered again. "I can't have a mate! I won't leave Rose!"

I turned around and ran, feeling his footsteps behind me. My wolf cried for me to stop and let him hold us. “You have to help me!” I yelled at my wolf.
