It's been four months since the death of Armend I can't even say that I'm sad about it. Actually I'm elated. He was not the man I thought him to be. He seemed like a caring yet mysterious person the morning we met. At one time you could say that I had some feelings for him but they evaporated as the beatings increase. He broke me and don't believe I can ever come back from that.

Arian has been here ever since to repair any reputable damages cause by Armend. He's distant so it's as if he isn't really here. He's gone before we wake and returns when everyone is asleep. But he was gracious enough to let me remain here seeming I had no where else to go.

I awaken to the nightmare that I've had since the incident. I've never spoke of it since that day to anyone except for the therapist I was ordered to see in order for me to be released.
I was numb, tired, and weak I just had nothing left. I didn't have the courage to go on, so I chose the easiest way out. Luckily Arian was there to save me from myself. I guess it just wasn't my time. I rub both of my wrist the constant reminders that will hunt me the rest of my days.  It's 4:23 in the morning so I decided to go downstairs to make myself useful.

I entered the kitchen to see Arian sitting at the bar in the kitchen engrossed in a newspaper sipping a cup of coffee. He doesn't acknowledge my presence until I started taking out pot and pan to cook breakfast.

"Good morning."voice raspy from sleep. "Will you be eating with us this morning." I ask out of curiosity. "No, but thanks for the offer."

"It really won't take me long to whip something up." Besides breakfast is the most important meal of the day." He disregards my me and continues to read the paper.

"I never really got the chance to thank you for everything you have done for me." You really didn't have......

"Your welcome and if you don't mind, I'm trying to read the paper."he says bluntly. I nod to myself and continue what I'm doing. Maybe he's not a morning person but okay. I turn some music on and began cooking. I hear movement so I look up to see Arian glaring daggers at me.

"Are you serious!!!"ask he walks to the radio and turns it off. "I'm sorry."I say shyly. Before I know it he's turn me around grabbing my face with with his right hand and pointing with the other, newspaper in hand.

"You disrespectful little bitch did you not see me reading the paper?" He says through gritted teeth. I can only look at him. "Oh, now we're at a lost for words. You wanted some attention and now you've got it. You were just chatty a few minutes ago and now it seems the cat has your tongue. Don't you ever, ever disrespect me like that. Did you hear any f/cking music or noises in here when you entered. I'm to scared to answer. F)cking answer me.

"No I-I did not." I say as the tears fall from my eyes. His tenseness resides. He moves his hand from my face and he walks away mumbling something in Italian. He returned to his seat. I'm still standing there crying, hating that I felt weak.

"Make enough for me."he says. If you don't mind can you put pecans in my pancakes if you are making some." I turn my head to look at him. It is then that I notice that he is still in his robe and is wearing glasses. I guess this was his way of apologizing. "Sure." Was my response. Pancakes wasn't really on the menu but it would be now considering I interrupted his peace.

Thirty minutes later I'm all finished and I lay everything out on the bar in separate baskets. I've cooked a feast for an army. There's bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits, toast, pancakes, sliced fruits, bagels, hash browns, and grits. I smile at my work, feeling quite happy and content.

"My goodness who is going to eat all of that? He ask amused. Well, all of us. This is for all the workers. He stands and start to walk towards the cabinet. "No, no, no I fix it just you relax and tell me what you want. It's the least I can do for my disturbance this morning." I say shushing him away.
