After five minutes of bickering, Vince's dad had to drag us both out of the office and instead, had Anita send me upstairs. The room they locked me in was quite wide. It was like a ballroom and a bedroom made a baby. Extravagant.
A king-maybe larger-sized bed sat royally in the middle of the red and cream bedroom. The walls were velvety and romantic while the carpeted floor and engraved ceiling were a shade dirtier than white. A glamorous candle-lit chandelier displayed itself like a model upon the ceiling. A fireplace warmed the room up perfectly to my left and the flamy colors attracted my eyes.
"...Lorenzo! Now, how long did you say until we meet this girl?" A raspy male voice spoke with agitation. What's going on down there.
"A week."
"A week? That's perfect!"
"Great. Now, uh, I have business to attend to so..." Lorenzo tried.
"Getting rid of me already, De Luca?" His words sounded curious and sneaky. I also noticed an accent.
"No, I-"
"Are you hiding something?" I gulped loudly and switched which foot to lean on.
"Gastell-"
"I'm just playing with you." A nervous laugh followed.
I turned around.
I didn't want to involve myself further than now.
My feet traveled over to an interesting painting. It was a red and white colored nude woman. She wore a long, scarlet, cloth over her lower parts. My emerald eyes grazed the black signature.
Gastello De Luca.
Wait...
"Uncle Gastel. I finished the picture." Anita's voice danced downstairs.
"Wonderful, Nita! Show your Zio what I taught you." I slid my feet foward in the door's direction.
Many pairs of feet trotted up the stairs. Voices began to near thw roim i nervously stood in. A minute later and they stopped. Right in front of mydoor.
Oh poop.
I closer my eyes, awaiting the doortoswing open to some strangers. But it didn't happen.
I popped open one eye and the sound of the door across from me opened up. A sigh of relief was blown from my mouth. Bullet dodged.
I silently looked around and noticed even more abstract painting with his name on it. Was this his room?
I wanted to uncover more about the red and white bedroom but couldn't when the door opened up. Vince. His eyes were slightly wider than usual and his breaths came out in short patterns. Without speaking, he gestured me to him.
I hesitated.
Why on earth should I go to him. He brought me to this Godforsaken place. I would much rather be sitting at home, on my bed, watching Netflix, and eating unhealthy food. Not here against my will because my family was in the stupid mafia. Screw them, they didn't scare me.
I crossed my arms and stuck my head up.
An activated groan sounded from the entrance. Too bad Grumpy, I'm not coming.
I shut my eyes and waited for him to leave. Moments passed between us before the door shut and I smiled triumphantly. Hah! Little bïtch couldn't drag me out!
