-Michael's POV-
Ugh, school, school, school. I hate it. Getting up early and then being surrounded by a bunch of immature kids. I mean sure I'm also an immature kid but at least I mostly keep to myself. I'd like to think that I'm more mature than the stupid asshole boys who spit in girls' drinks. That's just nasty. I groan when I remember that I'm only half way through the day (it's lunch period right now) and I still have another 2 classes to go to.
"Hey, Mikey!" I look up to see my friend, Ivy, walking over to the table I'm sitting at. Ivy has been my friend since I started high school. We met during English class when we were put together as partners. We had talked pretty easily then and eventually we became really good friends. She even supported me when I came out to my family. Luke doesn't know about her though. He just assumes that he's my only friend.
"How's it going?" she asks as she takes a seat.
"Eh." I shrug.
"Not good?" she says with a raised eyebrow.
"Could be better. I could be at home with my boyfriend but no I'm stuck at school." I groan and hit my head on the table. Ivy just laughs at me and continues eating her food. She's the only friend I have who knows about Luke.
"Am I ever going to meet him?" Ivy asks with a sigh. "I mean you talk about him quite a bit and as your friend, or should I say best friend, I think I should get to meet him."
"Uhm, that's probably not a good idea." I say. I can already think of all the things that could go wrong. Luke would think I'm cheating on him or that I'm leaving him. I don't even know what else Luke could think.
"Aw, c'mon Mikey! Why won't you let me meet him?" Ivy whines and wiggles about in her seat like a child.
"Because Luke gets over protective and I don't want him to freak out." I say with a huff. I wish I could introduce Ivy to Luke but with his personality things would just go wrong.
"But you're gay. Why would he freak out?" Ivy asks confused.
"Luke just gets...I don't know. He's worried I'm going to leave him. Even if I brought home a girl he'd freak out." I sigh. I haven't moved my head from the table the whole time so I've basically been talking to the top of the table.
"Michael, seriously. It can't be that bad. Just tell him you're going to introduce him to a friend and then bring me home!" Ivy suggests with a small cheer.
"I don't think it's going to be that simple." I mutter out, finally lifting my head off the table.
"Just get him used to the idea that you have other friends and then eventually mention that you have a super best friend who's awesome as hell. Then that's when you bring me home." Ivy says with a victorious smile.
"Uhm or I could slowly get him used to the idea of me having other friends and then instead of bringing you home we all meet at a coffee house or something. I think that would work much better."
"Whatever works for you." Ivy says and rolls her eyes.
A bell rings signalling the end of the lunch period. I groan loudly and put my head back onto the table. Ivy just giggles at me and starts to get up.
"Don't be so sad, Mikey! The days almost over."
"Shut up, it's only half over."

Finally. I thought I was going to have to run away. The last bell has finally rung and I'm free from that stupid place people call high school. I quickly fish through my locker and collect everything I'll need to do homework then I start heading outside so I can find Luke's car. As I open the front doors of the school I hear my phone beep. I check it to see that a text from Luke.
From: Luke<3
Hey baby boy, I have to stay late for work. I'm so sorry I can't pick you up. I'll make it up to you later though ;)
I let out a huge sigh. Great, this means I'm going to have to either walk back to my parents' place or Luke's and both are equally as far. I decide on going to my parents' since I haven't really talked with them in a few days. As I start my walk home I begin to think of how much easier this would be if I had a car of my own. I do have my driver's license but my parents couldn't afford to buy me a car and I surely can't. A job would also be nice. If I had a job then I could get a car and this whole situation wouldn't even have to happen. I'm almost at my destination when I hear someone calling my name behind me. I turn around to see Ivy practically sprinting in my direction.
"Ivy? What the hell are you doing here?" I yell to her in confusion.
"I-" she stops to take in a huge breath. "I forgot to tell you something."
"So you ran all the way from school to try and find me to tell me something? Why couldn't you have just called?" Ivy just looks at me for a moment before her face becomes angry.
"Shut up I forgot about phones. I just got excited, okay? Now shush. So you know how I've been job hunting?"
"Funny I was just thinking about jobs." I say amused.
"Okay, yeah, whatever. Anyway, so I was looking through ads and blah, blah, blah. Right, okay so I found an ad from a company whose boss needs an assistant and I thought I would be perfect as an assistant because well I'm perfect." Ivy rambles out and flips her hair at the end. I snort a little at this but she glares at me and continues.
"But as I was reading the description of what he was looking for, I noticed that YOU would probably be amazing at this job!" Ivy says basically screaming.
"Whoa okay hold on. I don't know if I would be good for that." I say a little uncertain.
"No really! Okay it said in the ad that he wants someone who's organized-"
"Can I just stop you there? You said you would be perfect but you're like the messiest person I've ever met." I point out. Ivy stares at me with a blank expression and continues talking like I never said anything. I suppose she's just gunna ignore me then.
"So, someone who's organized, personable, committed and on time. Then I thought about you because that's pretty much you in a nut shell!" she exclaims. I rub the back of my neck and hesitate.
"In theory that sounds great but I don't know. I think that'll interfere with school."
"Nope not at all! He has an assistant during the weekdays but needs one for the weekend. It'll be perfect for you!" Ivy says happily. I begin to smile as I think about it. I could totally do that! Then I'd also have money and be able to buy things and save up for a good university.
"Yes I see a smile! You need to apply! We should start right now. I can help!" Ivy suggests and grabs my arm. She drags me the rest of the way to my parents' house and greets my mom quickly before explaining how much work we have to do. My mom says she understands and runs off to make snacks for us. She's so amazing in that way, always so caring. Ivy bolts up to my room and starts up my laptop. She cracks her knuckles and plunks herself done in a chair.
"Alright Clifford. Let's do this."
