7.5 Weeks
Maya
I've finally caught up on some school work and I made Riley's parents the cards. I was now sitting at my room. I had my two cards in my hands. I wasn't sure if I was ready for this. Topanga and Cory are like my parents.. I know I need to tell my mom too, but I'm really scared to know how she will react.
I sigh and make my way to Riley's. I thought a lot about thinks on my way there. I mean I missed Halloween, which I usually don't. It's my favorite thing to celebrate; I loved to scare kids. Thanksgiving is this month, then Christmas will be soon. I'm going to have a stomach by the time Christmas comes around. Then it'll never be the same.
I also wondered why Farkle had been acting weird lately. I've never really brought it up with him or my thoughts but I guess I've always known he's been acting weird, just haven't acknowledged it.
I finally make my way to the buzzer. I buzz and speak,
"Hello weirdos it's Maya speaking." I knew Lucas and Farkle had already arrived at the apartment. They were waiting on me.
"Hello Peaches." Riley says, buzzing me in. I go to the apartment and open the door.
"Guess who's back?" I say. I get hello's from just about everyone in the room.
"Okay, so I'm going to take Auggie to his room while you say what you need to Maya." Riley picks up her brother while he asks why he needs to go to his room.
"What's going on?" Topanga asks.
"I need to tell you guys something. Well, it's not really talking; it's a card. But I just want you guys to remember, when my mom's not always there, I thank you that you two are." I hand them their cards.
They both stared at the paper with only two lines on it. They both stared for a good fifteen seconds before Topanga looked at me.
"What?" She asked. Five seconds after, Cory looked at me,
"What?" He did the same thing.
I knew they understood what it meant. They just didn't want to believe it.
"Now open the card."
The card said, "If I have you open this card that means you get what the front means! You're a grandparent (name)!"
They read it at the same speed and looked up at me at the same time. I was getting sad again. I hated that I showed my emotions so much. Stupid hormones.
"What?" That asked, a little more strictly this time, as if I actually were their daughter. Farkle and Lucas stay back and watched. I walked in front of Topanga and Cory.
"Homecoming night." I say, "I was afraid. I heard what happened with the drink. I put the pieces together myself after some time. Mine drink was different because the drink was drugged, and was alcoholic to make it work faster. Mr. Matthews took me home, and then in the middle of the night, 1:27..." I get emotional.
I start excessively crying and sobbing. Topanga gets up and hugs me. She rubs circles on my back and shushes me.
"I'm not ready for this!" I say. She takes me to Riley's room where I lay down. Topanga lays next to me.
"Sweetie. I'm going to talk to you and be here for any questions you have. I know you're not ready for this but we'll be here." She says.
"But I'm scared.." I say, "I'm so scared."
"I can tell. But we will be here. I just have a question and you've probably been asked this before." She says, "Do you know who it was?"
"No, I wish I did. I only heard a voice, and I'll never forget it."
