Shawn

I sat on the couch, defeated. It upset me because Katy said no, and Maya knows why, but she ran off.

"It was actually quite exciting to have Maya throw a pillow at me, instead of herself." I hear Josh say behind me, he was talking to someone else though.

"Maybe she has a reason," Cory sets hit hand in my shoulder. "Maybe it'll be alright."

"Yeah right Cor," I sigh, getting up. "Nothing in my life goes well."

There was a buzz. I hoped it was Maya. We didn't chase after her because we knew she needed to cool off.

Riley goes to the buzzer. "Maya?" She asks hopeful. Everyone in the room turned their attention to the intercom.

It was her, "Yes, uh, Riley send someone like Shawn or your dad down here pl-EASE!" She sounded nervous up to the last part. Everyone looked at each other for about two seconds before I took off out of the apartment. I heard Cory behind me too.

We ran down to see Maya with this other guy around mine and Cory's age. Cory froze in his tracks but I kept going.

"Maya are you okay?" I go up to her and ask.

"Excuse me, but who are you?" The guy asks. I was about to give his the same amount for attitude he was giving me.

"Who is he?" Maya chuckles, in a rude way. "Who is he? Wow. This is the guy that has been there for me when you weren't. And guess what, he doesn't ask me for anything other than what I want to do. I don't consider you anything."

Oh, it was him.

"Maya what do you mean? You're old enough to know how babies are made. You know I'm you're real dad." He says, she glares at him.

"Sir I'd like to warn you in advance." Cory walks up, with a look on his face I don't usually see, anger.

"What do-" he is stopped by Maya. She hits him where guys don't like to be hit. The air was knocked out of him.

"OKAY THEN DON'T HAVE ANYMORE KIDS!" She screams in his face. "All you do is disappoint, I can't believe I almost forgave you all those years back. You don't try to understand anything."

"I can't believe you kicked me.." I knew he was going somewhere with that sentence.

"For the sake of my hand not having to do something, I suggest you not complete that sentence." I tell him. He gives me a look.

"Oh really? Look I appreciate that you've been there for Maya, I do. But I'm trying to be there for her now. I'm trying but she's being-"

"Don't complete that sentence!" I say once more. Then, he mouths it. I couldn't take it and ran to this guys and pinned him against the wall. I think everyone was shocked by how strong I actually was. I was kind of shocked too.

"Listen to me. If you ever decide to call this girl that again, I swear on my father I will hurt you as much as she wants to. I don't know what you're trying to do, but it's not working because you can't prove yourself to Maya that you're worth it." I threaten. Maya walks up next to me.

"Shawn, please, I'm glad you care, but I don't think you should intervene. I just want to go back to talk to my mom and Riley." She tries to push me away from him. I let go of my grip.

He turned to Maya and said something to her. I could see flames engulfing in her eyes. She went off at him. Her arms swinging at him. Cory runs at her, picking her up from behind.

He takes her away and I turn back to him.

"I suggest you get out of here before I make you." He rolls his eyes and walks out. I turn around to see Maya bawling into Cory's shoulder, and Katy close to her. I wasn't expecting to turn around to see her, and it hurt.

She walked over to Maya and took her in her arms, "Shhh baby girl. It's okay." Maya slowed and eventually stopped her emotions from flowing out so easily.

"Listen, Shawn, I want to apologize for me earlier. I just thought of Kermit.. He wanted to try to have a family with me, but that didn't work out. I know you're no where near him because every time you leave you come back. I just.. didn't know what to do." She says, putting her handy I her forehead.

"It's alright Katy, would you be willing to try again?" I ask her. She smiles.

"Yes, probably."

"Okay," I walk back over to her, "would you, Katy Hart, be my wife?" I ask with the open box in my hand.

"Yes, I will." She smiles. I embrace the moment of putting the ring on her finger. It was going to be nice now, have a family to be there for.

"mmmmMMMM!" Maya squeals with her mouth shut. She was smiling to no end and jumping up and down. Seriously, if you didn't know she was having a baby, you'd know now. Scared, sad, angry, and joyful in about five minutes.

"I'm really glad for you two," Cory says, walking up to Katy and me, "but we still have a Christmas to finish."

"Right." I grab Katy's hand. Us four (five) make our way back to the apartment. We walk back in to have everyone waiting in anticipation.

"What happened?" "Are you okay Maya?" Were two questions frequently asked to Maya, but with Riley, she has to reveal it.

"Is the baby okay too?"

Every person who didn't know turned their heads in confusion. Then every person who knew turned their head also, shocked that she revealed it.

"Oh Riley.." Maya facepalms.

"What?" All the people who didn't know ask.

"Oh.. I've said to much." Riley tries to avoid any attention to her. Then it turns to Maya.

"Okay, okay.. Yes it's true." Looks of disbelief appear on peoples faces. "Okay, I don't want to go through it all again okay. I don't want to say the word because there are kids here." I knew shewasn't just talking about Auggie, Riley and Eric too. "But it wasn't my fault okay. No I don't know who the guy is, but my friends have agreed to help me out and I trust them. Now I want to move on to more happier subjects." She does one of those game show motions to her mom and me.

Katy chuckles and hold up her hand. "He tried again. I said yes."
