"Victoria!"
I looked next to me to see Sparrow. No! He's not getting in the way! I grabbed my blade, but Sparrow, knowing what I was doing, grabbed my wrist.
"Don't." He whispered to me.
Don't fall for his words. "You're not getting in the way of my job!" I sliced the knife in his right arm, making him pull back. I looked in the window to see if Thomas Vêińe was still there.
He was looking at us. Then, he ran.
"Shit!" Sparrow jumped of the building and started running after him with me following.
Thomas Vêińe had the Flawless Diamond, and when I looked up, I saw him smirking. He knew we were coming to get them. I spotted one of Thomas Vêińe's mercenaries as he drew his gun and loaded it.
It was pointing to Sparrow.
Quickly, I ran over to him. That is when I heard the gunfire. "Sparrow! MOVE!" I quickly grabbed his arm, dragging him down to the rooftop. I looked to see if Thomas Vêińe was still around, but he was gone.
Sparrow pushed me off him. "What the fuck?" Sparrow shouted at me. He grabbed his blade and swung it at me, but I grabbed my blade and blocked the attack.
He grabbed my arm, making me grab another blade from my thigh and hitting him in the leg. That caused him to fall back a bit. Quickly, I pointed my blade to his neck, making his eyes grow wide.
"I thought killing was bad for business?" Sparrow asked.
I held the knife, shoving it further to his throat. ''For you, I'll make an exception!''
Sparrow started laughing. ''I thought you could trust me, or are you here for the gold?'' he asked rhetorically. ''Thieves are all about stealing jewels and gold, and we assassins are all about killing for money. So, we're the same, Victoria.'' Sparrow smirked. He knew I hated anyone who called me by my real name.
I pressed the knife harder into his neck until I saw a little drop of blood on fall onto my blade.
"You're beautiful when you're working."
That caught me off guard. My blade loosened off his neck. "I thought you and Eleanor were meant to be wed?"
Sparrow started laughing. "I guess you found out about her! Well, she's not my Fiancé, and I can't be married if my heart is stolen by someone else!" he joked.
My blade left his neck, and I put it back in the knife holder on my thigh. "For an assassin, you do have a soft heart!" I said, laughing.
He chuckled at my words. "You should think about joining the Assassin Brotherhood! They would love you, for you have a heart of a natural born assassin . . . just like your father," His tone was serious. Sparrow, as assassin, had to know all about his next assassination victim, and he knew all about my dark past.
''Victoria, I know you're not just a thief. Your something more, and that's what I love about you."
"He's gotten away . . . and it's my fault," I said.
Sparrow put his arm around me. "It's not your fault. I would be dying by now, if it wasn't for you! In fact, I would be quite dead by now." Sparrow turned me around and hugged me.
"I can't believed I've just saved an assassin's life."
Sparrow laughed as he pulled away from the hug. "I guess we'll need to work together to find him!" Sparrow said.
I nodded, looking up at him. We had both failed our contracts, but we were putting the risk of our lives to help each other find him.
"Let's go to the gathering. We need a meeting."
We jumped off the building and ran to the gathering of thieves to hold the meeting. I knew that Liz, Arthur and Scar won't like it, but Thomas Vêińe was worse than they had imagined.
