In My Dreams

A bittersweet merge, tempting my cold heart;

My thoughts are swirling in circles,

But no reward if I cross start.

Shadows of what was, or what could have been.

Still rolling the dice, trying to uncover the unknown;

Whispers of the past are drawing me home,

Webs of memories craving so hard to neglect

Sleeping to survive

Just want to close my eyes

Because in my dreams you're still here.

Slowly I close my eyes, verily desiring sleep's sweet compromise.

Life so painful, death so cruel,

Sleep is where the two are overruled.

For here in my dreams I can taste my wants

Without the pain of the day's dark haunts,

Nor the light night shines on my fears, bringing me to silent tears.

In my dreams you are here by my side.

We smile and sing, neither needing to hide.

Together we dance in matching stride

As the world around us makes our hearts open wide.

But this is not to be, and as night dawns into day,

Truth and fact come to wake me.

I will see you again in some little way

Even if only in my dreams.
