"Under arrest!?" Patrick exploded as two officers appeared behind them and began to handcuff their wrists. "For what!?"

The corner of Dr. Augustine's mouth was twitching up into a smile. "Unauthorized use of confidential information."

"Don't tell them anything," Patrick muttered to Pete as they were being pushed forward by the officers. Pete looked back at him with wide eyes and said nothing.

"This is ridiculous," Patrick crossed his arms. This time he was the one sitting in the interrogation chair. "Where's Pete?"

"Why do you care so much Patrick? I know you're tired and you want to get home, so how about we just cut to the chase and get your confession now?"

Patrick scoffed. He couldn't believe his ears. "We didn't do anything illegal, that's why I'm not going through the trouble of getting either of us a lawyer."

"Now you're the protective one I see." Dr. Augustine sat in the chair across from him.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"You just seem loyal to Peter now, unlike before."

"And that matters now because...?"

She smiled. "No reason. Anyway, we have determined through the media that you have used our information even though you were put on suspension."

"It's not like you could 'take away' our knowledge of the information. It was already known to us so we used it." Patrick countered.

"But-" she responded quickly. "You gave confidential papers to a member of the Osaka police department."

Patrick froze. "How did you know about that?"

"And then you-"

"No wait," he cut her off. "How did you know about that?"

"We never reveal our sources Mr. Stump."

The use of his last name sent shivers down Patrick's spine. "Then I'm not talking."

"Well you're going to have to speak in court."

"Then I'll wait until then."

•••

"This is so stupid," Patrick complained to Pete when they were finally released. He stifled a yawn right after. Their court date was in five days.

Pete nodded. "Agreed. And I really need some sleep, I've been awake for at least twenty hours in the past day."

"Would you maybe. . ." Patrick scratched the back of his head nervously. ". . .Nevermind."

"What?"

"No, it's nothing. I'm sure you need to get home and be alone for once anyway."

"Did you want me to go back with you?"

Patrick tried not to look pleadingly at him. Pete chuckled and grabbed his hand. "I'll follow you home."

Once there, Patrick unlocked the door and brought all of his bags to the bedroom he hadn't been in in weeks. He toed off his shoes and immediately flopped down on the bed. Pete followed soon after.

"All of this is just further going to hell," Patrick put his head against the older man's chest. "I don't think any of it was even worth it."

"Except for the fact that we busted one of Japan's Most Wanted terrorist groups and that I have thousands of dollars stuffed in my bag right now," Pete stated. Patrick huffed a laugh.
