Emma POV

"You mean, we're living at the Lynch's!?"

"Yeah. I thought you'd enjoy spending some more time there."

"Mom, me and Riker-"

"I know, you guys are so cute together."

"No, that's not it."

"Emma, I'm sure he'll be just as happy as you are. Why don't you go start packing? We leave in 3 days."

He won't be just as happy as I am. He wants me to come back. But I don't want to. I never told my mom we broke up, and now I'll be living with him again. This is just great...

"This is crazy."

"Emma, I know dad's gone now. We need to try to push him out of our thoughts for the moment. We need to get used to life without him."

"But why Riker's?"

"Because you just spent the whole summer there, and I thought you'd be happy to live there until we can get a place of our own."

Riker POV

"She's going to live with us again!? This is the best day of my life!"

"Riker, calm down," said my mom.

"But she's coming back!"

"But she lost her dad. You need to be sensitive and nice to her and her mom, ok?"

"I will! When are they coming?"

"3 days."

"This is amazing!"

I ran up the stairs to Rydel's room.

"Did you know Emma's coming back!?" I shouted.

"Yeah, mom told me a few days ago."

"I can finally fix things between us!"

"Riker, she lost her dad. I don't think right now's the time to bug her about getting back together."

I sighed.

"I just want to comfort her and make her feel better."

"Riker, promise me you'll think about how she feels, not just about how you feel. If she needs space, you need to give it to her."

"I will."

"Really?"

"I will."

"Ok."

Emma POV

I angrily shoved things in boxes. The last place I wanted to go was Riker's. I didn't want to see him, especially now.

Days Later...

Riker POV

"I can't believe she's coming tomorrow! We have to make sure everything's perfect!" I shouted to Rocky.

"Dude, calm yourself. Emma's not going to care. She's probably just going to want to crawl into bed next to Rydel and talk to her for hours."

"I can't stop thinking about her."

Rocky got up and shut off the light in our room.

"Just go to bed, Riker. We have a very long day tomorrow."

I laid in bed for hours, tossing and turning. All I could think about was Emma. I couldn't believe it. This was my second chance!
