Chapter 18

Monday...

Emma POV

The bell rang, and class was finally over. It felt like today dragged by. I waited for Riker, since our classes were right next to each other. He came walking out with the biggest smile on his face.

"Hey...?" I said, a little confused.

"Guess what!?"

"What?"

"We got our math quizzes back!"

"And?"

"I got a 92!"

"Oh my gosh! Riker, that's amazing! Not only did you pass, but you got a great grade!"

"I know! I almost exploded in there when I got my quiz back! I'm so excited!"

"Wow... You're excited about math... That's new for you..."

"Emma, I've never gotten in the 90's before for math! This is amazing!"

I laughed.

"Well I'm glad you're so happy with your grade."

"What did you get?"

"97. Why?"

"I don't know... Ooh! I should set a goal to beat you!"

"No, you shouldn't."

"Why not?"

"That's an impossible goal."

"Whatever..."

"Come on. We better hurry if we want to catch the buses."

"Actually, I was wondering if we could walk home today."

"Uh... Ok. Why?"

"I just wanted to talk to you."

"Ok."

Riker and I left the school, and started walking down the road.

"What'd you want to talk about?" I asked.

"I just... You trust me, right?"

"Riker, I told you, yeah, I do!"

"Ok."

"Why don't you believe that?"

"No. I do. I'm just... I don't know..."

"Riker, I love you, and I trust you, and you're the most amazing person I've ever met. I'm the luckiest girl on earth because I get the honor of being your girlfriend."

"Really?"

"Yes! Riker, I love you more than anything!"

"But I pushed you a few times!"

"I know. Everyone makes mistakes. You're different now. You wouldn't do that to me ever again, and I believe that. Can we move on now? I love you, and that's all there is to it!"

"Cool."

"Cool? How about an "I love you" back?"

"Sorry. I love you."

Riker kissed the top of my head, and then took my hand in his as we walked along.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" Riker asked as we walked.

"I trust you, Riker!"

"No, not that. Um... This weekend, my friend invited me to go spend the weekend with him at his vacation home. It's by this lake. But then he canceled because something came up."
