Chapter 26
Friday...
Riker POV
I hadn't been able to stop thinking about Emma. She was constantly on my mind, and I kept getting yelled at in class for not paying attention! Today was Friday, and around 8:00 tonight, we had to perform our scene. I was so scared about the kiss. I was so nervous that I'd just start crying in front of everyone or something!
"Riker, you have to eat something," Emma said, coming into my room.
"What?"
"I'm not letting you throw up on stage tonight."
"Oh... No, I ate breakfast and lunch."
"Barely! Come on. Let's go have dinner."
I followed Emma downstairs for dinner. I guess you could say things got a little less awkward between us. But inside, I was completely dying! I loved her so much, and I'd give anything for her to be mine again.
After dinner, we rehearsed some more.
"Riker, are you sure you don't want to practice the kiss before we do it on stage? You are going to kiss me tonight, right?"
"Um... I hope I will."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know. I just need to try to calm down."
"Riker, seriously. Our parents, your siblings, and a whole bunch of other people will be in the audience watching us tonight. We can't screw this up."
"No. I'll really try my best."
"Good. We're getting graded on this, remember."
Later...
Emma POV
I was backstage with Riker. Our scene was next, and Riker couldn't stand still.
"Riker. You ok?" I asked.
"No! I'm scared!"
"Just do it how we rehearsed. We'll be fine, ok?"
Riker looked like he was going to cry. Seriously?
"Riker, if you're in theater class, and you want to act, you can't have stage fright."
"It's not stage fright!"
"Then what are you scared of?"
"Kissing you!"
I rolled my eyes. I took both of Riker's hands, and pulled him so we were only inches apart.
"Riker Lynch. There is no reason for you to be afraid of the kiss, ok? We are going to perform how we rehearsed, do the kiss, and we're going to be awesome, ok!?"
"Ok..."
Well that was the wimpiest ok I've ever heard...
The 2 people before us came off stage. Riker and I were up! I grabbed his hand and pulled him over to the side of the stage.
"Just how we rehearsed, ok?" I whispered.
Riker and I walked out on stage. While we were performing, I could see his face turn red, and sweat start to form on his forehead. He sometimes fumbled over a few words, but he kept going, and he didn't forget anything.
We walked closer to each other. I said my last line. And now it was time for the kiss. I could see Riker breathing super fast. We both leaned in. Before our lips could meet, Riker turned and jumped off the side of the stage, and took off running.
