This chapter contains some stuff that's illegal in the US. Like underaged drinking and using drugs. But since I'm Dutch and we're allowed to smoke weed and drink alcohol once we're 16, it isn't really illegal for me. So that makes it legal, doesn't it? Well I hop you'll just like it!

After I pulled Nate inside my room he laid his backpack on my bed. I pushed him aside and grabbed the bag. Inside it were exactly the things I desperately needed. Vodka, Tequila, Rum, Malibu, beers and many more. There were even two limes and salt in it. I couldn’t help but smile at the litres of alcohol in front of me. Right now, Nathaniel Bale was my hero.
“How did you get all of this inside?” I asked him, while I unscrewed the bottle of Rum.
Nate sat down on the bed and grabbed a bottle of vodka and mixed it with some cola. “I told you I can get everything inside.”
At that moment I didn’t even mind the smug smile on his face anymore. I just raised the Rum to my mouth and drank from it greedily. I enjoyed the burning in my throat immensely. Rum was gross if you didn’t mix it with something, but I just needed to get drunk as soon as possible. It was too long ago.
I watched Nate drink his vodka coke. And I saw him close his eyes as he swallowed. By the looks of it it was a long time ago that he drank alcohol too. I took another happy swig of my bottle.
“So it takes alcohol to make you forgiving,” Nate said as I sat down on the bed next to him and grabbed another bottle without looking which one it was. A quick gaze at the label told me it was tequila.
“You’re not forgiven,” I told him, while unscrewing the tequila. “I’m just enjoying your free alcohol.”
“Sure,” he said, his voice telling me he didn’t believe it for one bit. “Want to get high too?”
I looked at him confused. He just took out a bag with weed to show me what he meant. At first, I was shocked. I had never used drugs or anything like it before and I wasn’t planning on it either. But at this moment I didn’t care anymore, I just nodded my head expectantly. I knew this was never going work. I had never smoked either.
“Are you sure?” Nate asked, probably noticing my hesitant gaze at the little bag.
“Yes, I am.”
Nate expertly rolled the joint and lit it with a lighter. He handed it to me.
I looked at it as though it was a snake. I couldn’t help but being afraid. Nate noticed my hesitance.
“Ashford, just stick it in your mouth.”
“Don’t rush me. I’ve never done this thing before.”
“Yeah, well, the best way to learn it is just to do it.”
“I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing.”
“Stop talking yourself out of it. Just wrap your lips around it and suck. It’s no rocket-science.”
“I just... I don’t know,” I hesitantly looked down at the glowing joint in my hand. “I don’t think I should.”
Nate scowled at me. “Of course you should. You’ll enjoy it. I promise.”
“But...”
He raked his hand through his hair angrily. “Just stick it in your mouth or give it to me.”
I glared at him and raised the joint. I was really tempted to just hand it over to Nate, but I didn’t want to seem like the frightened little girl that I actually was. So I put it between my lips and sucked hard, inhaling a scorching lungful of pungent smoke.
