Chap 2- "That was amazing!" Rick said and Gina smiled.

"Josh made it actually." She said and Rick smiled.

"Did you now!" He said and Josh laughed.

"I did yes Ricky." He teased and Rick smiled.

"Well I gotta run, see you at the meeting Gina." He said and hugged her.

"Bye!" Gina called and Josh wrapped an arm around his wife.

Rick whistled as he walked into his loft.

He wasn't expecting what he saw when he turned the lights on.

There sat Kate, his.. ex-wife?

He wasn't sure if she ever filed the papers.

He cautiously walked over where she was in the kitchen.

"Kate?" He asked and Kate looked up.

"Rick!" She breathed and got up.

"W..What are you doing here?" He asked and Kate shyly smiled.

"I came to see you." She said and Rick dropped his keys.

"I don't see why." He said.

"You left me 5 years ago." He added and Kate sunk, her hopefulness of him forgiving her just went down the drain.

"How did you even find me?!" He asked and Kate took a deep breath.

"Your book jacket said you live in Soho so I just asked around and finally got here, I ugh.. told your doorman I was your girlfriend." She said and Rick scoffed.

"I..nice place." She said, not knowing what to say.

Rick walked into the kitchen and took out a beer.

"Thanks." He said and leaned against the counter.

"Did you ever get that dream job! The one you..left for." He said bitterly and Kate sunk again.

"N..No." She said and Rick sarcastically laughed.

"So.. you didn't get the job, you said you'd come back, back to me.. and yet, 5 years later.." He trailed off and Kate's dam almost broke.

"Are you.. have you remarried?" She asked and Rick sat down.

"Nope.. don't have time for that, I really don't feel like getting my heart broke again." He said and Kate literally had to breathe, she was afraid she would sob.

"Rick I'm.."

"Don't say it." He said. Kate bowed her head, brutally ashamed of herself.

"I still love you." She whispered and Rick shook his head.

"Don't make me feel better Kate." He said making her name sound like pure bitterness.

"I do." She said.

Rick stood up, "I'm going to bed, you probably don't have anywhere to stay." He said and she slowly shook her head.

"I'll let you sleep in the guest room." He said and walked up the stairs.

When they reached the top Rick showed her the room and turned to leave but Kate took his arm.

He tensed up but slowly looked at her.

Kate looked up in his eyes and he could of sworn he felt something but he jerked away and walked out. Kate closed the door and sobbed.

She couldn't lose him again! She had to get him back!

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

Rick lay awake that night, Kate had just..come back in his life!

Did she expect him to forgive her with open arms!

No, if she was telling the truth, if she really loved him she would let him get his mind straight.

He would be lying if he said he didn't love her still, he never stopped loving her.

The whole time a bit of hope was dug deep into his heart.

He always hopped she'd come back, he never expected himself to be so angry when she did!

He knew in time, he'd forgive her and maybe just maybe they could have another chance.

He slowly drifted his eyes away and soon fell asleep.

........................

When Rick woke up the next morning he smelled food.

He groaned and felt Buster licking him.

He laughed a bit and sat up.

"Hey boy." He said and rubbed his belly.

Buster gladly accepted the rub. He barked and Rick rolled his eyes.

"Come on let's see what Kate's cooking." He said and grabbed a shirt, threw it on and walked out.

Not before taking a deep breath.

"Come on boy." He said and walked out.
