A/N: Jesus Christ it's been 2 years. Depression and responsibilities do not help with writer's block. I feel like such a failure to you guys who bother to read my crappy stories. I'm really sorry. I'm gonna push through to finish this book. I'm turning 18 in 3 days, to put my procrastination into perspective, I think I started writing this when I was 14 or 15. So now seeing how awful my writing is I kinda wanna just start all over but that's probably never gonna happen so I gotta finish what I started and keep my promise, enjoy.

RECAP: We proceeded into a dark corridor, plagued by the smell of mildew and other sickening smells which were indescribable. Much to my disgust, my hand encountered cockroaches and other unspeakable critters as it grazed the wall, distracting me ever so slightly.

In the silence...

Along with our footsteps,

If we listened closely enough,

Something else could faintly be heard.

But what..?

It's eyes glowed.

Remaining unnoticed in this eerie silence...

The slithering of a serpent.

I stopped walking and listened. Nothing. It was too quiet, and I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. Of course, with where we are I know to trust my instincts. I release the genjutsu that's been hiding everything from us, and in the distance, I can see what looks like a dark entrance to a cave. I begin to sprint towards this glimmer of hope, holding my unconscious lover and our cooing child close to my chest.

This must lead to an exit, I thought, now running as fast as I can as Pakkun followed suit. Not paying any attention to the many cracks in the wall and spaces between rocks where someone could be watching us. It was too good to be true, thus blinding me to any possible threat. I didn't care. We had to get out of here, now.

As I went on, we reached a separation of paths and I began to distinguish the pitter patter of raindrops coming from outside.

"Pakkun, where do we turn?"

"Left."

He began to lead the way and I followed closely.

We'll make it, we have to.

As we arrived near the apparent exit, someone grabbed my wrist.

I looked down, it was Claire, barely holding onto consciousness.

"...Kashi..." she whispered, half smiling at me.

"We're almost out" I told her.

She kissed my hand as I continued to walk and I kissed her forehead.

Pakkun stopped in his tracks, sniffing around in a panic.

Igato started bawling, and Claire hugged us both with all the little strength she had left.

"I love you both.." she whispered.

"What's-?"

It was too good to be true after all.

"If I can't have them, no one can... kukuku"

From a low hole in the wall, he emerged from a snake's mouth, stretching out his body in a way that wasn't humanly possible, then coming out of his mouth was a blade.

I didn't have time to react before it was too late, the blade pierced Claire'a chest and she coughed up blood.

As Orochimaru moved to impale our son, Claire moved in front of him, getting pierced a second time in the shoulder, the blade leaving a cut on Igato's cheek but nothing more.

Our baby cried louder now.

I punched the serpent in the face and Pakkun jumped and bit his ear, giving me time to run outside, and that I did, Pakkun following us outside afterwards.

There was a team of medics nearby waiting on us, looking alarmed at the sight of us and all the blood.

"Kakashi-san, are you injured??" one of them asked in a panic.

"No, it's her! Someone save her! Please!"

I put Claire down gently, handing Igato to another medic so they could make sure he was alright, and they cleaned him and bandaged his cheek.

Claire on the other hand..

They opened her shirt to see that she had been mortally wounded, and healing her as much as they could. She was unconscious now, she had already been wounded and lost a lot of blood prior to this, and she was already so weak.

A tear ran down my cheek.

"We can't do much, sir.." a female medic who was healing Claire spoke.

"But, we heard Lady Tsunade is in the village for the week, maybe we can make it time to get her help."

I was going to take any possibility I had to save her. "Let's go, now."

Because we'd been so focused on Claire, who's heart was almost stopping, we hadn't noticed Igato drift off along the way, poison from the cut making it's way throughout his body.

We arrived after several hours of non-stop running and ran into the village frantically, screaming out trying to find Lady Tsunade, who was drunk in a bar.

Upon hearing us she stepped outside, looking confused. Her cheeks were red from alchohol consumption.

I dropped to my knees. "P-Please, please help her!"

Being a Senju, Claire and her were related, Claire was her niece.

Her eyes widened, the shock of what she was seeing seemed to sober her up some.

"What happened to her?!"

"Orochimaru happened.."

She cursed under her breath and got down on her knees, putting her hand above Claire's chest, then letting out a small gasp.

"Poison.. Was anyone else stabbed?!"

Kakashi's eyes widened in realization as he looked back towards his son, who was seemingly sleeping soundly.

He touched his arm. "Igato?" "Igato?!" "He won't wake up!"

"Calm down, I'll do what I can." she assured him.

"Let's go the hospital, now."

We all went and she had us follow her into a lab of sorts.

She took a vile of blood and tested it, to see that it's a poison she'd dealt with before and thus had previously made an antidote for.

She had nurses feed the baby a vile of the antidote and had Claire laid down on a bed to be monitored, but her heart was no longer beating.
