Kakashi POV
I snap back to reality and I put a hand over my mouth.
"...what is this?"
"I think you can answer your own question, Kakashi..."
"..."
"Come on, Hokage-sama asked for you..."
"Alright..."
We head to the hokage's building and waiting there next to him, is Claire. I look away.
"Kakashi..." lord Hokage starts.
I look up at him.
"Yes?"
"I assume your memories have been returned..."
"Sir?"
He sighs. "Kakashi, I understand it must be a shock to you..."
I look away and silence follows.
"...Kashi...?" Claire says unsurely.
I look up at her, overcome by shapeless emotions.
"...Let's go for a walk."
I nod, walking out of the Hokage's building by her side.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...I'm sorry...."
"!..." I look at her in surprise.
"But tell me, did you hear the entire conversation?"
"...no."
"...That explains a lot..."
"Tch..."
"...look, you misunderstood whatever you heard."
"How so? It was all just a mission to you right?"
"..." she looks away. "Did your memories tell you nothing?"
"Then what was all that about?! I know it was a mission! How am I wrong?!"
"...So what?"
"Huh..?"
"Either way I had promised that I would return to you, all he asked was that I bring joy to you, which was originally my intention. My mission was to make you happy, is that so cruel?! My emotions had been numbed by war, by poverty, by cruelty, and being an ANBU, I had forgotten what love was. I needed to remember to love again, and until I did, I was told to make you happy. It was a success. I remembered. I remembered how to love... It may have been a mission to the Hokage's eyes, but to mine... never mind, you said it's over, right?"
"...I was angry, I misunderstood, I admit it. I'm sorry... tell me, what is it to your eyes?"
She looks up at me, and a tear rolls down her cheek.
Without thinking, I pull her into my arms and I hug her tightly.
I, myself, feel tears begin to form in my eyes.
She gently slides off my mask, and she kisses me softly.
I kiss her back.
"...I never stopped loving you, Kashi..." she says softly before gazing up into my eyes.
"And I you, Princess..."
