Dane was the first one out the door, with Zal and I following hot on his trail. I'm afraid that if Dane does something stupid, Zal will do the same because that's what she does. She can never play it safe.

Dane weaved through the people on the street, faster than what I thought a kid could go. I glanced to my side and saw the glint in my sister's eye, the one that always appeared when she was going to do something reckless.

"Zal!" I shouted after her, but she had already disappeared into the crowd of people walking on the damp street. They all turned their heads back to watch he go. A little confused, but after a moment or two, they went back to their dreary, sullen looks and going about their day.

What I wouldn't give to be a mortal and just brush things off like that.

Cursing under my breath, I stormed after the two, trying to draw as little attention to myself as possible, unlike the two who like to act like they're a bunch of modern day superheros. I guess that would make me Nick Fury.

When I had reached the nearly deserted park not far away, I stopped in my tracks at the collapsed body of Zal on the ground. Her dark hair spread across the damp pavement. Dane was not too far off, only a few feet ahead of her.

I looked all around me, trying to see who it was that could have done this. My fists blazed with flames as I prepared to defend myself and the two uncauntious kids by me.

There was a snap of a twig behind me, and as I turned around, I caught sight of Ryker placing a white cloth over my face. He was Chloroforming me! I tried to fight back, but the chemicals were already making my vision spotty.

I struggled to reach behind me and hit him, but he kept a steady hold on me until I was unable to do anything while losing my vision and my hearing and soon my consciousness.

"As far as I know, I'm delightful." Dane's voice came out of no where.

"Yeah, right. Delightful. I'll remember that next time you decide to Bruce Lee me." The second voice sounded like Zal. I groaned, turning over and then falling hard on a wooden floor. That woke me up.

My eyes snapped open as I took in my surroundings. There was a couch right by me, which must have been where I was. Zal and Dane were sitting on two bar stools in the kitchen, only feet away from where I was.

"Looks like sleeping beauty finally woke up." Zal called out, her voice smug.

I sat up, rubbing my temples, trying to get over the headache I currently had. I felt like I had just been run over by a bulldozer twice. And waking up in an unfamiliar house didn't help the anxiety I felt creeping into me.

I heard a crash of silverware, and a blonde haired woman stuck her head out from the entry of the kitchen, not far from where Zal and Dane were sitting.

"You're awake!" She exclaimed, her smile was bright and her tone cheerful. I'm pretty sure I've never seen her in my life.
