I'm coming home
I'm coming home
tell the world I'm coming home
let the rain wash away
all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits
and they've forgiven my mistakes
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
tell the world I'm coming..." -Skylar Grey, I'm Coming Home Part II"What did you do to him?" Dane demanded as he knelt down to Ryker's body, blood dripping from the huge gash in his forehead. I had come in the house to see Theron, my cousin, standing over Ry's body. Of course it would be more convenient for them to take Ryker out first. With him being a power stealer, he could sense the god's powers nearer.
"Why do you care?" Theron tilted his head to the side to study Dane, my cousin's curious eyes showed no sign of regret. Theron looked a lot like his father who stood in front of me, the same dark hair that most of the family inherited, they had the same nose as well as arched dark eyebrows with glistening molten golden eyes underneath them. The only distinguishing difference was that my uncle's cheekbones were more chiseled than his son's. And their clothing was different, Theron dressed in jeans and a dark shirt while my uncle was more classier, in nice slack pants and a dress shirt. He looked like he was going to someone's funeral, and maybe he was.
Dane stood up, clenching his small fists and glaring daggers at Theron, "Because-" He started, but Erebus softly laughed, cutting Dane off, "Did he tell you he knew who your parents are?"
The midget gaze darkened, slowly tilting his head to look at Erebus. For a second I thought he might spring to life and rip off Erebus' head, "At least he never lied to me!"
Erebus shrugged dismissively, turning his cold eyes to me, "What's taking your brother so long?"
I felt like my breath had been choked out of me when I tried to answer, when I moved my mouth no sound came out. We were supposed to get to Paris from what my dad's journal said, we were supposed to get home, and then I was going to break that curse Hecate had on Cole. He and I were going to break it together. Now all of that seemed useless. Erebus was going to finish what he started. He was going to kill us and take over in my father's place.
My uncle raised an eyebrow after a few moments of me trying to answer. Figuring I would catch him off guard, I curled my fingers into a tight fist and swung it towards his lower jaw, hoping the momentum would catch him off guard, but instead he caught my wrist in his hand, not a hair out of place, "Nice try, sweetheart."
Snarling, I wrenched my hand away from him as my uncle looked to both Dane and I, "I have come here under a sort of truce, I don't want to fight you."
"Because you know you'll lose." Dane grumbled, keeping his gaze fixed on Theron.
Erebus shook his head, "No. The opposite, really. I wanted to discuss with Kai a compromise that will get us both what we want."
"You want to kill us! I don't think that's much of a guessing game." I shot at him. That's what he's always wanted.
Erebus opened his mouth to respond, but instead his eyes went up to the stairs behind me, where Kai and Elena came walking down the stairs, both drenched from head to toe. Instantly I began thinking worst case scenario, "Please don't tell me you decided to dry hump in one of the showers."
Elena stared at me, she didn't even look like she was going to answer that.
When they reached the bottom of the stairs, standing by me, I glanced back to Erebus, and past him I saw Theron look Elena up and down, "You look like you've had better days." Elena didn't respond, and my brother decided to answer on her behalf, "When this is over, I swear on my father's dead body that I will kill you, and I will make it hurt." His voice was low and intimidating.
