It was like nails on a chalkboard. Long claws, slowly scraping against the wall, footsteps barely audible.
With the darkness, all there was to go by, was the sounds of the claws scratching against the wall, the footsteps, and the clinking of a chain.
Suddenly, the scraping and footsteps came to an abrupt stop, the chain making more clinking and scraping noises, as the metal links making it up clanged together, and it the floor, swaying along it from the ends it was connected to. One end was to the wall, the other, the collar around her neck.
"All you can do, is run to the end of that chain, and bark," he said, with a bit of a lisp. He could hear her snarling, reaching out and clawing at him, only giving him a scratch on his nose. He grabbed the chains, yanking hard.
She yelped, bringing her hands to her neck, getting underneath the collar and rubbing her neck. "Stupid dog," the male muttered, walking away. "You...monster..."
He whipped around, staring into the seemingly illuminated, light brown eyes, of the chimera he and many others had created. She had never spoken before, just snarls and growls. Her voice sounded like a mix between two people though... It didn't sound quite human. The candle in his hand didn't provide very much light... Just enough to illuminate his face and hers.
Her chocolate brown hair hung down in her face, unbrushed in God only knows how long, and long. Very long. The tail she had now rested on the chain keeping her there. The claws that replaced the normal nails she once had were like deadly weapons... "What was that?" The man said eagerly.
"You... Are a... Monster." The man had no concern for what she just said, just the fact that she said it. He seemed all too happy about it.
Sadly for him, her temper was short. The chain fell to the floor, scraping it and clinking together. He suddenly snapped out of his thoughts, looking around. Has hand suddenly felt a horrible pain. He dropped the candle, holding his wrist and looking at his hand. It had been cut, right down to the bone, by four, very sharp things.
He looked around, being cautious. "Monster!" He heard the seemingly nightmarish voice of the chimera... And it was the last thing her heard. She moved on to the others, and, in a matter of an hour, maybe two, she was sitting alone, curled up, tail cut off, claws hidden by long sleeves, and quiet...
Very quiet...
