Zira was sitting in a small space with Lexi, which only made the space smaller. She was constantly hiding from Amestrian soldiers or other state alchemists.
Suddenly, Lexi began growling, getting out of the small space they were in. "Lexi!" Zira said, trying to grab her dog's collar but it was too late. Lexi was growling at something, but Zira didn't know what. She peeked out, hoping it wasn't a soldier.
However, the only person there, was a girl. She was small in size, but was tall. She had long brown hair, some of it hanging in her face. She said nothing, she just stood there. She soon walked away, and Zira just shrugged it off. She assumed the girl was just walking by, and happened to hear Lexi barking. Zira got back into her little spot, trying to pull Lexi back, but the large dog refused.
She took off after the girl. As Zira was crawling out yet again, she heard Lexi snarling, and then some yelps, followed by whining, then more snarling.
She quickly got to her feet, only to see her big dog limping back over. There was claw marks going from her right eye, down to her nose. Her front-left leg looked like a much larger, wild animal, had been trying to rip it to shreds.
Lexi whined, and let out a small bark, as she somewhat lay in Zira's lap. Zira then noticed, that through Lexi's thick fur, there was blood, quickly coming out from her side. "Oh no..," she muttered.
Lexi looked up at her owner, as if asking if she did a good job. She was still whining, moving around a bit, yelping when she did.
"It's okay Lexi... Shh, you'll be okay," Zira said, petting her dog's soft fur. She then grabbed a knife she had been using holding it close to the side of Lexi's head, where she couldn't see because of her damaged eye.
"I'm so sorry... You're a good girl Lexi..." Lexi whined once more, laying her head on Zira's knee, like she knew what was going to happen.
Zira inhaled, holding her breath as she drove the knife into her dog's head, the dog letting out a small, and very short yelp before laying limp in her lap.
Zira flinched hearing the dog's yelp, moving the dog's dead body out of her lap, and closing the dog's eyes. "You're a good girl..."
She stood, looking up. Her eyes met those of the chimera who had just killed her beloved dog... Lexi was almost like Zira's best friend, in fact, she was. She lived alone, so Lexi being with her was comforting, so she knew she wasn't alone.
Zira quickly attacked the girl, who blocked Zira's kick, pain immediately shooting through her arm. Zira's expression did not change.
"Auto mail doesn't feel too good, does it?"
The girl said nothing, scratching Zira's face, leaving four gashes in her flesh. Zira quickly got over the pain, turning back to the girl.
And thus, their fight began.
