It's Just You, Me And The Loading Screen

The Nothing

The elevator doors closed and I instantly turned to Anna, a mixture of anger and shock on my face.

"What in the world where you thinking?!" I used my clutch purse as a weapon and hit Anna in the arm with it, she put her hands up in defence but I hit her a few more times just to show how truly not OK I was with everything that had just transpired and how I completely blamed her for it all.

"Ow! Oh my god Ally, cut it out, that's really starting to hurt!"

I gave up my assault on her but continued to give her the harshest glare I physically could.

"Do you know what you've done? This. Is. My. Nightmare!" 

"What was I supposed to do? I panicked... I'm sorry" Her face scrunched up in a cringe and I knew she didn't plan for this to happen but I still wasn't going to forgive her just yet. I took a deep breath to steady my nerves and try to regain some composure before Felix and Marzia came back.

"It's OK... It's just one dinner, I can handle this" I said mostly to assure myself rather then Anna, I was almost completely calm again before I remembered my rush to get ready.

"Oh crap, how's my make-up?" 

Anna gave my face a once over before moving her head from side to side with an unsatisfactory look.

"No, this can not be happening. I'm going to dinner with my ex and his girlfriend and I look like a troll" I almost broke out in hysterics.

"Don't freak out" Anna began rummaging through her purse, pulling out some of her make-up essentials, mascara, liquid liner, lipstick and foundation powder. I let her apply it all, following her instructions while silently willing myself to develop powers of invisibility so I could make an escape. Gently holding my chin Anna moved my face from side to side, looking for any mistakes and when she was finally content with her work a half smirk formed on her lips.

"There, you look amazing" Anna smiled at me and put her things away, I wrapped my arms around her and hugged tightly.

"Thank you... I'm so sorry I went full crazy bitch on you"

"Its fine, I love you even when you are a crazy bitch" She said with a laugh and I couldn't help but to laugh a little as well as we broke apart. 

"You know, if you really want to get his attention you should pull up your skirt a bit higher..." Her words were a narration of her actions as she tugged on my skirt.  

"...and unbutton that blouse" Anna done this for me as well while I stood there unable to speak or move because of her audaciousness.

Just as Anna's hands left my chest the doors of the elevator opened and there they stood so cute and perfect together it almost made me physically sick but despite this and despite my earlier crazy attack I promised myself that I would behave, be polite and get through this night before crawling under a rock to die alone. I faked a smile as they walked toward us and held the back of my precariously high skirt as a breeze blew through the car park, but the fake smile was soon replaced by a genuine one when I noticed Felix looking at me. I not going to deny it felt good to know he was checking me out.

"Hey, so are we all ready to go?" Marzia asked in her usual high-pitched fairy princess voice, Anna was the only one to respond and the two of them began walking and were quickly immersed in conversation. Felix and I stood for a moment, neither of us speaking just looking at one another, I tried to say something, anything, but nothing came to mind.

Rolling my eyes, I gave up on whatever moment Felix and I were having and turned to follow Maria and Anna, who had just disappeared around the high wall surrounding the car park but before I could take a step I felt Felix's firm grip on my arm. He spun me around and pulled me against his body, one hand holding the back of my head while the other slowly made its way up my thigh and under my skirt. I breathed out an irrepressible moan just before his lips met mine. Our tongues intertwined and I pressed my body closer to his, wrapping my arms around his neck and running my fingers through his hair. For a few seconds I felt complete, the kiss literally took my breath away and we both pulled apart needing air although our bodies stayed just as close, neither one truly wanting to end what had just happened. 

Before my mind could start functioning and I would be able to speak again Felix gave me one last small kiss before removing his hands and taking a step away from me. He opened his mouth as if to say something but there was only silence and then he just walked away, wiping my lipstick from his face without even looking back at me. I was completely overwhelmed, feelings of joy, satisfaction and love were being destroyed by regret, anxiety and heartache until finally everything boiled down to a calm numb. I took and few deep breaths, fixed my make-up as best I could and began to follow Felix, Marzia and Anna as if nothing at all had happened.
