Chapter 34

Back For You

When I woke up, the apartment was completely silent. It almost felt like yesterday had been a bad dream of mine, nothing but a memory in my head. The boys were sound asleep in their beds, just as they always were at 7:00 am. The early morning sun was punching through the blinds, the birds were singing in the hot summer air outside the windows and I just felt happy. Simply happy...

But it hadn't been a bad dream of mine. As I tried to sneak out of my room as quiet as possible, I stopped dead in my tracks when I closed the door behind me. The boys were sound asleep for sure, but in the couch and on the mattresses on the floor in front of it. The TV was black and instead of the sound of the movie, which I had left them with last night, the room was filled with soft breathing and quiet snorting. It made me calm to see El and Louis curled up next to each other on the mattress, sleeping peacefully with their faces blank and full of expression on the same time. Jamie and Liam were laying on the other couch, hugging each other softly and somehow managing to match their breathing pattern. Aspen was resting her head on Zayn's shoulder where they were sleeping on the couch in front of the TV and the bowls that were full of popcorn last night were completely empty on the floor.

Thalia was curled up into a little ball, hugging her own knees and resting her head on Niall's shoulders next to her. I was relieved to see that Harry was half sitting, half laying on the mattress, just as he had been sitting the night before. I had no right in the world to doubt him, didn't have any reason to, but I couldn't stop myself. Maybe it was because I was so used to people letting me down in life... And one thing I was sure of was that I didn't want to experience that again... Not with Harry... I wasn't sure I could take that...

I smiled at the sight in front of the TV before I sneaked over to the door, put my feet in the horribly uncomfortable stilettos and left the boys and their girls behind me.

Even though I had lived in Stockholm my entire life and the last month was the longest I had ever been away from the city, everything felt different. Nothing was the same anymore... Just the thought of moving back home again, living in the same house as my father felt so distant to me, felt so unreal that it was hard to think of it. But that was what would happen in just a few days... In a few days, on Monday evening to be exact, I wouldn't be able to go back to the Elite Plaza Hotel. I wouldn't have access to the apartment, I wouldn't have access to any of the devices I had been given during the month I had been working for MFL. I would have to go back home, start over and find new job. I would have to move on, forget about this month, forget about the band... Forget about Harry...

"As you all know by now, there's only two days left of the MFL tour 2014," Mr. Andersen said from where he stood in front of all the personal assistants that had been working during the month. It was very unusual, hasn't happened even once during my working period; we had always been divided into three different groups, I into the Elite group. Now, 35 of us, all wearing the same kind of clothes, all holding the same kind of iPad and all watching our boss in the same way. Even if not all of us wanted to admit it, we would all miss our singers and bands.
