Chapter 3
Another World
"Jessica will be assisting One Direction which means Jim will be U2's assistant. Your make up artists will tell you about the details."
I couldn't believe what was happening to me! It was definitely not my day today. I tried to act normal, not showing how mad I was, as I walked behind a really proud Jim to the make up room.
The room was really big and bright. Five make up artists had a station each with a full size mirror lined with spotlights and shelves full of hair products and make up. Music poured out of some speakers in the ceiling. The walls, the ceiling and the floor, everything was painted white and together with the many spotlights, it was really uncomfortable to just look at it. Clara and Ben was already getting their haired colored and Nina was discussing something with her make up artist. Jim went over to his place and a blonde girl came to greet him. He bent forward and hugged her and I could see the young make up artist turn away with a blush on her cheeks. I was interrupted in my thoughts by a woman with burning read hair.
"Hi! Jessica Warren, right? I'm Audrey and I'll be your make up artist today."
Audrey was a really nice woman who'd just turned twenty-six. She had dark red hair with highlights in a shade lighter and wore a simple black dress which she looked really pretty in. Her body looked like a model's and I couldn't help but turn a little jealous. Maybe Alex would like me better if I had her body...? Her face was stunning with perfect lips and bangs that covered her forehead. Some times I actually imagined her with a fishtail because if she'd had one, she would have turned into Ariel the little mermaid. She seemed very modern and fun, though, and I was really happy I was going to spend the evening with her. She laughed at everything I said and she really talked a lot.
"Ready to get rid of those blue highlights in your hair?" she asked with a smile when I sat down in the chair in front of the full size mirror.
"I guess so..." Bye, bye, blue highlights, I thought to my self when Audrey started to paint blonde hair paint over the blue streaks of hair.
"So you're going to be One Direction's personal assistant!? That's so cool!" she said and smiled wide.
"It is...?" I wasn't so sure about that.
"Yeah, of course! Don't say you haven't heard of them!"
"I have heard of them, but I haven't heard their songs..." Well, that was a lie. I had heard their songs. At least one. And a half.
"Oh my God! You must be the only one!"
"No, believe me. I'm not the only one. I guess I just don't like their music..."
"They can't be everyone's favorite boys, can they?"
"No."
One and a half hour later, the hair color was done and Audrey had forced me to go 'clean my face up' and given me a new make up. I was actually stunned by the fact that my face looked so natural and pretty without all the makeup I used to put on. Instead of the thick line of eyeliner I used to put on, Audrey had only painted a thin line of black closest to the eye. My eyelashes were black but separated in a way that made them look really natural and the lips were painted with some almost see-trough lipgloss.
