The room was dark, only lit by the television that played across the room. Neither you nor Rocky were really watching it, though. It was mostly for background noise as both of you went through your social media one last time before calling it a night. Something on the screen did catch Rocky's attention: a lame commercial full of empty promises. With a quick cackle, Rocky scoffed the claims on the television in his usual manner, causing you to giggle.

"Marry me," you laughed under your breath, not even bothering to look up from your phone. It was something you always said when Rocky did something that made you fall in love with him all over again. Whether he was making a dumb joke, sharing his drink when you didn't want to get up, or just being himself. It was the little things that filled your heart with overwhelming joy. This time, all it took was his casual humor to remind you.

Silence followed that statement, the only sound was the voices on the television selling the latest in vacuum cleaner technology. Rocky coughed, as if clearing his throat. Then he broke the silence. "Okay," he said in the most serious tone of voice you had ever heard him use in the many years that you'd known each other.

You clicked off your phone and tossed it onto the bed before sitting up next to him. "What?" you asked with a chuckle, rubbing his forearm gently. "Why do you look so serious all of the sudden, baby?"

"I'll marry you." Rocky raised his eyebrows and a tiny smile replaced the straight, tight-lipped expression that had overcome his face. It was as if he was challenging you, letting you know that the ball was in your court now. Was he just joking? As you opened your mouth to ask, he cut you off. "No, I'm not joking, Y/N."

You grinned and slapped his bicep lightly, causing him to pull you into his embrace. He kicked the blankets down and scooted both of you down so that you were laying down on the bed. "Really?" you asked as you rolled over onto your stomach so you could look up at him. "You'd marry me? I wasn't proposing or anything, you know." A few of the buttons on his shirt were unbuttoned, allowing you.to sneak your hand underneath the fabric and rub his bare chest.

With a yawn and a stretch of his long arms, he pulled an extra pillow underneath his head so that he was propped up slightly. "I know, but I am. I want to be with you forever." His dimples started to show on his cheeks. He ran his fingers through your hair and tickled your neck, the way that always drove you crazy. "I want you to be my wife, baby girl."

You pondered the possibilities as you continued to trace little circles on his chest. The two of you had lived together for a little over a year, and had been dating for a year before that. You knew that you loved him and wanted to be with him for the rest of your life, but never really contemplated marriage as a real possibility. Yet, you knew your decision the minute you looked into his eyes. "Alright," you said "Let's get married."

"You aren't upset that I didn't get down on one knee? I don't have a ring." He started to sound worried. "Babe, I can do better than this."

You wiggled up so that you were nose to nose with him. "No, this is perfect," you said. "Seal it with a kiss?" Rocky's nose crinkled and his eyes were sparkling as he puckered his lips and waited for yours to make contact with his. It was an innocent little peck that turned into something much more, and it was absolutely perfect.
