It was the night before yours and Riker's wedding, and your families were intent on keeping you separated. Riker's brothers were taking him out for a night on the town, and your mom and Stormie had paired up to plan the ultimate girls night. All of the bridesmaids were there, including your maid of honor Rydel. On the agenda for that night included face masks, manicures and pedicures, and assorted bridal shower games.
You tried to enjoy yourself all night. Even though you weren't usually one for DIY spa activities, you indulged your mother and mother-in-law-to-be. You didn't even complain once, which no one realized was a huge deal for you. Everyone got their nails done with French tips, which would look gorgeous with the gowns.
After a couple hours, you felt the need to escape all of the chaos. You weren't nearly drunk enough to handle all of the girl chatter and gossip going on in the other room. Without even being noticed, you slipped into the downstairs bathroom and locked the door behind you. This was finally a chance for you to have some much needed quiet time. You sat on the edge of the bathtub and scanned your Twitter feed, reading all of the Tweets from the R5 Family expressing pure excitement about the wedding. It warmed your heart to see so many people spreading their love.
A small tap on the window made you nearly lose your balance. Against your better judgement, you pulled aside the curtains and peeked out into the dark night. A familiar face appeared, causing your heartbeat to slow down just a little. The window slid open effortlessly and you rested your elbows on the window sill. "Well, well, well," you said in mock disapproval as you shook your head.
"I can't stay long," Riker whispered, leaning in for a quick kiss. You couldn't help but smile through it. It all felt so forbidden. What would his mother say if she found out? What about yours? You were breaking a tradition. "I just had to see you," he sighed, resting his forehead on yours.
"I wish you could save me right now," you whispered. "It's killing me to be away from you."
"Oh, Y/N," he chuckled. "It's just one night. We have the rest of our lives to be with each other." His slender fingers run through the hair that framed your face. "I need to get back to my brothers before the suspect something. I'll see you tomorrow. I'll be the guy waiting at the end of the aisle." He winked as he started to back away from the window.
"And I'll be the one in white," I called after him quietly. "I love you, Rike."
"I love you, Y/N," he smiled before running off back into the black of the night.
You slid the window shut and turned to look in the mirror. Your cheeks were bright pink from blushing. Some cold water splashed onto your face and a couple of deep breaths helped the color return to normal. Once you were sure that no one would know what you were up to, you unlocked the door and returned to the party.
"Are you okay, dear?" your mother asked you. "You were gone for quite a long time."
"I'm fine, mom. I guess I'm just nervous." You shrug it off casually, hoping that everyone would believe you.
Everyone carried on with the chatter and the party games. Rydel took a seat next to you on the couch and leaned into you, whispering in your ear. "So, how's my brother tonight?" she asked with a small smile across her face.
"What?" you replied, trying to keep your cool.
"I saw him running down the street. Don't worry. I won't tell. I think it's romantic." She pulled me into a side hug, resting her head on my shoulder. "He loves you a lot, you know."
"I know," I sighed happily. "He tells me every day."
