Toby was now unguarded. I took a deep breath and tore my gaze from Numaria to look at Toby. He was in shock and i didnt blame him, i remebered both waching and being in my first monster fight. It was one of the most horrible things to ever see. Tobys face was frozen in a worried expression.

Jake was wimpering in the other room, i immediatly went to aid him. turning my back to a fear sticken Toby. I trotted over to Jake.

He was lying on his side legs pointed away from his broken shoulder. I used my snout to find were the shoulder was shattered. It looked like there were no bone splinters like id thought but it was broken and his left leg was fractured. I bared my teeth and used a talon to cut the tissue surrounding his shoulder to have direct contact to the shoulder and fractured part of his leg. I wiped my venom coated fangs on his open wound and bones. He yelped slightly but knew i was helping him.

I would need to do this same routine with Artemis before my venom killed him.

'ill do it later' i thought still pissed off at him

I waited with Jake to make sure he was healing properly then, reluctantly i went to help Artemis. i didnt wait to make sure he was okay.

I stalked down the stairs slowly knowing that now i had to face Toby. he was still sitting against the wall. I couldve changed back into human form, but he needed to know what i was. And how dangerous my life is, but most importantly he needed to see what i really was.

i am a monster like nothing many people had seen before. Not a vampire, not a werewolf, and no ordinary shapeshifter either.

I slowly walked towards him, my talons clicked on first the marble then the hardwood floor. i shrunk slightly to be his height so i hopefully wouldnt be as intimidating to him.

i stood above him for a moment then layed down and touched my nose to the floor and gazed up at him. my snake eyes holding his.

'stand'

i thought to him. he stood i did to. So we were at eye level of each other. His eyebrows pulled together as he thought hard. the lightbulb went off in his eyes.

He leaned in and looked at me intently with amazement, then smiled

"Sakina?" he asked.

i nodded and tried to smile a little, he began to reach out to touch my nose but i stepped back growling instinctively, which scared him.

I stepped forward and nosed his shirt making sure there was no skin contact.But then he touched my scales.

The same shock went through me but this time it was much more plesant.

I didnt jump away like i knew i should, wanting to stay in this feeling forever. I was floating in light, beautiful white and yellow light. Nothing existed exept for me and Toby. There was something i needed to remember, I thought hard trying to grasp what it was but it floated just out of reach.

'just let go' a voice whispered but not outloud, in my mind.

I willingly obeyed, unusual for me but i trusted the voice instinctively.

'Toby' i thought, knowing it was him but wondering why he was here with me. This was just a dream wasnt it? Apparently not. 'this isnt a dream' i thought. He said nothing but i felt his emotions and he agreed.

'this is our soul search isnt it? ive heard many stories of this happening, we see into each other. We are open to each other'. A warm feeling engulfed me courtesy of Toby. It tempted me to just enjoy the expiriance. I refused.

'No toby ' the feeling almost immediatly stopped,

'i want to figure this out, its important. Were seeing what each other is like from the inside out, so we know almost everything about each other because were....' i stopped not wanting to overwhelm him, these last couple of days have already been hard on him.

'Sakina, you have been great to me. You saved me twice in the last fourty eight hours! You have been understanding and kind. Just you presance makes me happy'.

He began to gush, i listened touched by his words but silenced. 'I already know about monsters, the night world or midnight mist or whatever you want to call it. Honestly when i met you and you changed, i didnt see it coming, but it didnt suprise me.

Some of my best childhood friends were monsters, I felt the tugging of his memory, but i didnt find that out untill a certain powerful vampire came looking for me. I still dont really know why but he was determined to find me and kill those who prevented him from finding me.He finally found me when i was ten and i was with my older brother Toby-'

'wait' I interrupted mid- gush ' why do you and your brother have the same name?'

'we dont' he replied
