“hey its not my fault I haven’t been in school in over 60 years!” I glared at him keeping my voice just above a whisper

We were in the school library and he was helping me with my math homework. I mean I know the basics and stuff but schools are way more sophisticated now.

“besides” I continued “since when do letters and numbers go in the same formula?” Drake laughed at me and continued to try to tell me how to get the answer.

“so, Y2 minus Y1 over X2 minus X1 is the formula you need to find the slope of the angle in this graph” he said matter of factly. I had gotten used to his newfound confidence now, and honestly, I liked it. he was taking charge and even though he didn’t act as cute as he used to, he traded that cuteness for a hotness that matched the rest of him. I also noticed that I no longer felt like I needed to be gentle with him anymore. he didn’t seem fragile, instead, I was the one feeling more fragile. Which I was fine with when Im with him, but if it came to a combat situation, which it very well might, this new weakness could mean that I wont be able to defend the ones I love from Tyson or any of his minions.

I looked up from the equation I had been blankly staring at to look at Drake. He had an expectant expression on his face and I quickly realised that he was finished explaining and wanted me to provide and answer.

I too a wild guess “42” I said

He rolled his eyes and put his face in his hands, rubbing his eyes with his fingers. “come on Sabrina” he said sounding annoyed

I didn’t like how he said my ‘new name’ its not that I didn’t like the name, it just didn’t sound right coming from his mouth when he was referring to me. I only had it so that I wouldn’t have my actual name put into the school file system. Drake also stuck with the name Toby, since he still responded to it like he did his own name. i settled with Sabrina because of how close it was to my actual name, id more or less still respond to it, or at least tune into what was going on around me because of how close it sounded. Also if anyone slipped up by calling me Sakina, Sabrina was close enough to my name to claim that it was a slip of the tongue

Drake leaned in closer to me glancing around a bit. I was instantly aware of his proximity, and I had to fight my new urges to close the distance between us. Recently my instincts have apparently changed their mind on what they think of Drake. So instead of wanting me to push him away and attack him, I wanted to pull him closer and well attack him, but in a very different way.

The thought of doing so brought redness to my face that I hated to experience.

He was mere inches from my face now, his grey eyes focused on mine,

“Sakina,” he said in a low voice that sent shivers down my spine “I know that this sucks, but you need to know this to pass. You said it yourself that we couldn’t draw attention to ourselves, and failing would do so, so please at least try to stay focused” I couldn’t tell what his expression was but he did make a point.

And it didn’t help that he was repeating my words. I had said before our first day that we couldn’t draw attention to ourselves if we could help it. This meant that we couldn’t fail, overachieve, volunteer answers, or make friends with the teachers. We had to blend in. and we’ve been doing quite well so far. Maintaining average grades, maintaining minimal contact, and only speaking when spoken to.

I also had Artemis arrange our classes so that we had all of them together. But we made sure to not sit right next to each other, though we made sure to sit near the back and in close proximity so that if anything happened we wouldn’t need to wait up for each other to overcome any kind of separate obstacles to escape.

I sighed “whatever, you know I understand the stuff that’s gonna be on the test tomorrow so ill just do really well on that test and not worry about this” I said gesturing to the formulas infront of me.

“fine” Drake said with defeat in his tone. I was surprised to find how smart he actually is. On the surface he didn’t look like the kind of person who would do well in school. He could be getting straight A’s by the way he can tutor me, yet he maintained a C+ average in all of his classes.

He crossed his arms over his broad chest and leaned back in his chair, staring off into space.

Keeping my face angled towards the table I allowed my eyes to slide over his body. Had his arms gotten more defined recently? Looking at him now I tried to think back to when I first met him. he did seem bigger muscle-wise than he did then. Now that I think of it, he had been more physically capable recently. And he stopped getting tired when we went on walks in the forest before we moved. With the knowledge of humans that I have, it seemed like a very abrupt change. Maybe he just has a more powerful stance. Has he been exercising more without me knowing it? not that I mind, I definetly enjoy the new lines that show through his shirt.

“do you want a picture?” I tried to supress my surprise when Drake suddenly spoke and broke the silence.

I immediately looked up at his face, no longer trying to be sneaky. The direction he was looking in hadn’t changed. I kept my face blank as I looked at him I was in the middle of wondering how the hell he noticed my eyes when he was basically looking in the other direction. He would’ve needed to turn his head in order to get a good look at me to see if I was staring at him

He looked at me then with a playfully annoyed expression on his face that made my heart beat a bit faster. “I can practically feel you gaze and confusion Sabrina” he said my fake name with an annoying tone.

I glared at him and threw my hand in the air, leaning back in my chair. “What are you getting in socials?” I asked him

This caught him off guard “uh I think im at an 83%, why?” I smiled at that and looked at him mischievously

“want to get out of here? It sound to me like you could drop a few percents” I ended my statement with a wink and I saw his pupils dialate which I learned in psychology was a sign of attraction among humans. I beamed inwardly but kept what I hoped was a suggestive look on my face.

I could hear his heartbeat quicken and he looked at me more intently. It was times like this when I was felt like being a tease when I would see the cute boy that he used to be shine through. It was nice to know that I can cause that kind of emotion in him.

“What did you have in mind?” he asked with a wary tone
