When Regina has issues with her phone service, she phones customer service to raise an inquiry regarding the problem. Suriya picks up the call on the other side. Regina gives him an earful. After listening to her end of the conversation, Suriya starts to freak out (probably because he has never met a customer like her).
General Comments
This is probably one of my favourite Kollywood movies up to date. There was a hook to it that kept me glued to my laptop screen. It was so sweet. Without much further ado, let's get to the review. I'm going to review this movie by reviewing each couple according to the chronological order of the movie if that makes any sense at all.
Regina and Surya (Nayanthara and Jai)
I have a lot to say about this couple. Regina truly loved Surya but I am not so sure if Surya loved Regina the same or a lot more than how much Regina loved him. He claims to love her but if he really did love her, he would have fought to keep their love alive. He would have fought with his father to accept Regina because I am sure that if he did, his father would eventually learn to accept her. I get that he is scared of his father but who is not scared of his or her loved ones? Do not quote me on this but I think there is a line in the Bible that states that behind love is great fear. This means that we fear our loved ones to an extent. We should not live on that fear to limit us in how we advance in life. In other words, I think Surya is a coward. He was too scared of his father to approach him about Regina. I think the main reason why Surya's father rejected Regina's father's marriage proposal because he felt hurt. He felt hurt that Surya did not even bother to tell him that he loved Regina and wanted to marry her. As far as Surya's profession goes, he could have taken Regina along with him if he really believed in their love. Regina might have not agreed to go at first but she would go eventually because she believes her happiness lies with Surya. The last thing he leaves Regina is with his "suicide". I guess I cannot hate on him too much if he cared that much for Regina to let her move on with her life but, that is not enough for me to change my opinion of him. I still think he is a coward no matter what. The last bit I want to say about this couple is that if it were not for Surya's cowardice, Regina would have never met John.
John and Keerthana (Arya and Nazriya Nazim)
What can I say about this couple? The bond between Keerthana and John is too sweet. It was cute seeing Keerthana blushing every time John did or said something sweet. Anyways, I would love to be in her place at those time when John would talk to Keerthana. The part where Keerthana claimed one of her colleagues as her boyfriend was too funny. I burst out laughing. I do not know how to differentiate a good joke from a bad one so the fact that I could detect Keerthana's lie says a lot. I was almost in tears when John and Keerthana were having a conversation on who they would tell about their wedding. The conversation was a tear-jerker. The part where Keerthana says that she has no one to tell about her wedding drove me to tears. It was extremely sad to see Keerthana die in a hit-and-run accident a day after marriage. I felt that if John had gone to get ice cream with her, she would not have died. He was too busy attending a call. If he had gotten off the call a bit earlier, maybe he could have saved her from dying. It is not completely John's fault. Keerthana should have watched the road attentively before crossing the road. No, wait. She should have focused on the road instead of focusing on John. That sounds brutal to hear but it is the truth. The accident was bad enough but John witnessing Keerthana die in front of his eyes is a lot worse. There is nothing worse than seeing your loved one die in front of you and that feeling of I wish I had stopped her from crossing the street. I think the main reason why John could not move on in life is because he felt partially guilty for Keerthana's death. I do not blame him. I would be a lot worse in his case. Him overcoming his guilt allows him to meet Regina.
John and Regina
Two people who reluctantly got married to satisfy their loved ones. For Regina, it was her father. Her father could not stand to see his daughter crumble to pieces after what "happened" to Surya. For John, it was his friend Sarathy. He could not stand to see his friend at his lowest after Keerthana's death. At the end, these two people tie the knot. I get that they hate each other to the core of their hearts but they can try to at least tolerate each other right? Haha funniest last words. Sorry... I laugh at my own jokes. If John came home drunk everyday, I would probably not let him enter the house but that's just me. I am surprised that Regina lets him in the house. I think the main problem behind why Regina and John misunderstand each other is because of lack of communication. If they had some communication with each other, then it would solve a lot of problems. This lack of communication goes to the point where John suspects that Regina wanted to divorce him after she wanted some beer. He was too quick to jump to conclusions. Maybe she wanted you to stop her from leaving? You never know... It was really sweet how John would ask Regina about her health via phone. It was also very kind of him to offer to pay off her hospital bills. I felt that Regina overreacted regarding this issue. She could have kindly rejected his offer but no. She had to embarrass him in front of everyone. It is a surprise that John did not retaliate. That says a lot about how he changed. Regina's present to John on his birthday was very cute. Too bad John had to be an arsehole and never opened it until the very end. It was nice of John to look for Surya after Regina tells him that she saw Surya but she should have considered her feelings. Did she ever want to get back with him? The fact that she agreed to marry him shows how she is trying to move on from the past yet John is trying to bring her back her past by looking for Surya. Like all movies, this movie ends on a good note-their reunion.
