Song of the Review (Naan Aval Illai)

Naan aval illai! (I am not her)
Azhagiloa kunathiloa (in beauty or character)
Edhilum naan aval illai! (I am not her in anything)

Scene of the Review

In an attempt to impress Manini, Masss "coincidentally" meets Manini and her friend at an amusement park. He uses the meeting as an excuse to get to know Manini better.

The moments when Masss tried to impress Manini were so cute. It was obvious that he asked Manini's friend about their plans and "coincidentally" came over to the amusement park. That was cute but what was even more cute was when Manini accepted Masss's gift. She made him feel bad but before he could feel too bad, she accepts his gift.

General Comments

I was mesmerized by the song Naan Aval Illai (I am not her). Afterwards, I started to listening to more of the soundtrack. I heard Poochandi, Piravi, and Therikkhudu Masss. I really loved those songs. The background of the songs were very beautiful. Yes, I wanted to watch this movie because Surya was in this movie too. It is wrong to watch a movie because of the cast but if you know someone in a certain movie, you find an interest to watch the movie.

I don't know about you but I feel that all the movies that Surya acts in have a song regarding how dangerous Surya's character is. There was Bang Bang Bang in Anjaan and now there is Therikkhudu Masss. Don't get me wrong. I love these songs. I thought that was something interesting to point out. I also noticed that the background music when Surya was in the bus with Manini is the background music to Kaththi. I thought that was cool too.  I can see why the director would choose Surya to play dangerous roles. He has the face for it and he is really good at acting this particular role.

The only difference with Surya's role in Anjaan and Masss is the character transformation. You see, in Anjaan, Raju was a don alright but he didn't exactly change himself for Jeeva. It is true that he was extremely nice to Jeeva but hey, if you had a crush, wouldn't you be super nice to them? Even if it was a creepy kind of nice? He didn't change mostly because she knew who he was from the get-go. She loved him for who he was don or not. In Masss, he portrayed himself as a good person in Manini's eyes but when Manini found out his true nature, she left him. He didn't exactly change for Manini, but he changed for his ghost friends who trusted him to help them. He felt guilty for how he treated them. He was selfish. It just so happened that Manini noticed his change of heart and accepted him. He didn't change for Manini. This is clear when he doesn't acknowledge Manini at first when she talks to him after so long.

It was so scary when Shakthi holds on to Masss's hand at the house that he was haunting. I flinched the first time. I flinched the second time. It was extremely sad when Masss found out that Shakthi was his dad. I mean, he treated the man who was his dad so bad. I don't blame him. He didn't know. This proves how you should always treat others the way you want them to treat you. In this world, everyone is related to one person or another somehow. That's weird but it is true. What was even more sadder was when Shakthi disappears before him after Masss met with an accident. His wish was fulfilled but Masss was unable to see ghosts anymore.

One thing I found unrealistic was the forged documents. When forged documents win over original documents, you know it is only a movie. Movies are based on real life to some extent. It they were entirely based on real life, then no one would watch movies. People watch movies to escape reality. If movies reflected real life, it would defeat the purpose as to why people watch movies.
