x36: One Crazy Quarrel (part2~) 




[CJ's PoV] 


SHIT. 


That's the first word I uttered in my mind when Alexis asked me about Hazel being my FAKE GIRLFRIEND. 


JUST SHIT. He heard what Hazel and I were talking about. 


Malulusutan ko pa ba toh? I want to spit out an excuse to cover up my FAKE RELATIONSHIP with Hazel pero alam ko, hindi ko maloloko si Alexis. He is one, very witty guy. 


"Why?" tanong pa ni Alexis, still with that blunt and skeptic expression. "Bakit kailangan mo pa syang gamitin to act as your GIRLFRIEND?" 


"I'm not using her, damn it." iritado kong sagot. Sinabunutan ko ang sarili ko at tumalikod para lumapit sa table ko. 


Paano na ba toh? Paano na kung ipagsabi ni Alexis ang tungkol sa fake relationship namin ni Hazel? Paano na kung malaman yun ng nanay ko? 


"Oh?" natawa si Alexis, sarcastically. Tuluyan na syang pumasok nitong office ko at sinara ang pinto. "If not USING, then what do you call it huh?" 


"Pwede ba Alexis?" I glared at him. "Don't talk like you already know everything that's going on between me and Hazel." 


"Then let me know. Tell me everything that's going on between you two." confident nya pang sabi which made me smirk at him. 


Just how the hell could he talk to me this confidently after all he did to me years ago? 


"Tell you everything, Alexis? For what?" bitterness was very obvious in my tone. "To give you a chance on stealing Hazel from me? Just like what you did to my first girlfriend?" 


Natulala si Alexis sa mga nasabi ko. Confidence faded off of his expression. He must be feeling guilty now that I brought up our past which ruined our relationship as cousins. And that was our past. Nagawa nya akong agawan ng girlfriend noon. 


"Ano naman kung agawin ko si Hazel sayo?" biglang sabi ni Alexis. May tapang sa tono nya. "She's just your fake girlfriend, CJ. And you're just using her to get rid of Shane." 


"I told you, I am not using her!" I've raised my voice. Nakakainis naman na kasi sobra! Sinabi ko na nga kanina na hindi ko ginagamit si Hazel pero pinagpipilitan nya pa rin yun! "And yes, Hazel's just my fake girlfriend but I love her for real, damn it!" 


Natulala na naman si Alexis sakin. While I tried to calm myself down. 


"I love her, Alexis.." mahinahon ko nang sabi pero nandun yung panggigigil. "That's why I'm not gonna let you steal her from me.. Never.." 


Nagtitigan kami. Then Alexis gave me a slight smile. 


"Okay.. Don't worry.." Alexis said. "I'm not going to steal Hazel from you. Not anymore. I've decided, sayo na lang sya." 


Tinaasan ko sya ng isang kilay. Why the heck is he submitting this soon? Not that I don't like it. But it's too fishy. 


Natawa si Alexis sa reaksyon ko at naglakad pa sya sa loob nitong office ko. 


"Truthfully, I like Hazel. And when I found out that she's just your fake girlfriend, I really wanted to take her away from you." paliwanag pa ni Alexis. "Akala ko kasi ginagamit mo lang talaga sya for your own good, para hindi matuloy ang plano nina Uncle Greg na iengage ka kay Shane. And I believe, Hazel doesn't deserve it. Well, no girl deserves to be used by us guys." 


Ako naman itong natulala sakanya. Is this really Alexis? My playboy cousin who knows nothing other than womanizing and stealing girls from their boyfriends? 


"Pero paano ba kayo napunta sa ganitong sitwasyon ah, CJ? You said you love her. But how come she ended up being just a FAKE GIRLFRIEND of yours?" 


I sighed at his question. Ayokong magkwento sakanya eh. I'm not comfortable talking to him like we are okay. But I have to tell him everything to clear my side. 


With me sitting on the table and Alexis on a couch, I started on telling him everything. Kinwento ko yung kinwento lang din sakin ni Hazel noon about sa encounter nya sa nanay ko at kay Shane pati yung kasinungalingang nasabi nya na girlfriend ko raw sya. Inexplain ko rin kung paano kami napunta sa sitwasyon namin ngayon. Kinwento ko yung pagkakabuo ng DEAL namin ni Hazel and guess what. Alexis laughed at all of it. 

"HAHAHA THAT GIRL! SHE IS REALLY CRAZY!" sabi nya after ko magkwento. 


"She really is." pagsang-ayon ko naman. 


"DEAL DAW HUH? DEAL PERO LAHAT NG BENEFIT EH SAYO LANG MAPUPUNTA? HAHAHAHA" 


"Oo nga eh. Hindi na lang ako kumontra kasi nga ayokong mapalayo sya sakin." 


Tumigil sa pagtawa si Alexis at tumingin sya sakin nang seryoso. 


"Man.. You're seriously in love with that crazy girl huh?" sabi nya. 


"I am." sagot ko sabay sigh. 


"Mahal mo naman talaga sya, eh bakit hindi mo na lang totohanin ang lahat sainyo? Confess to her and court her." 


"If it's just that easy to do then I should have done it by now." 


"What? Ikaw? Nahihirapan kang magconfess at manligaw sa isang babae? Parang first-timer lang ah?" nagawa pang manukso ni Alexis. Tsk. 


"I'm just scared, okay?" medyo napipikon na ko. "I know, Hazel doesn't like me. And I'm scared that she'll turn me down and choose to stay away from me after I confess to her." 


Di na sumagot si Alexis. He just looked at me. 


"Tsk.. Ang totoo, di ko na alam kung anong gagawin ko.. Gusto ko na talagang aminin sakanya ang totoong nararamdaman ko pero..natatakot ako.. I'm afraid of what she's going to answer to me. I'm very afraid of losing her." 


"You should take risks, CJ." seryosong sabi ni Alexis. "If you're not going to make a move now, it might be too late for you already. Wag mo hintaying dumating yung time na magkaroon ka na ng karibal sakanya. Alalahanin mo rin, hindi habangbuhay ay mananatili si Hazel bilang fake girlfriend mo." 


Alexis' words hit me. He has a point. But still..I don't have enough courage to make a move. 


Sinabunutan ko na naman ang sarili ko. I hate myself. I'm so pathetic. 


"Ah shit. I gotta go now!" napatayo na si Alexis. He was checking his phone. Seems like he has to meet someone very important. 


"Okay.." walang gana kong sagot sakanya. "And Alexis.." 


Tumingin sya sakin kasabay ng pagbalik nya ng phone nya sa bulsa nya. 


And it may be against my will to ask a favor to him, I am still going to do it. 


"Please, don't tell Mom about my fake relationship with Hazel.." I finally asked Alexis. 


Nginitian naman nya ako. "Sure thing. And good luck to you, CJ." 


"Thanks." I smiled at him too. 


When Alexis left, nagtrabaho muna ako dito sa opisina ko. Pinilit kong magconcentrate sa ginagawa ko kahit ba ang malaking parte ng utak ko ay iniisip ang mga sinabi sakin ni Alexis, pati ang pakikipag-ayos na kailangan ko pang gawin kay Hazel. 


I also did rounds out there kaya naman nakita ko ulit si Hazel. She looked fine while working-- wearing that smile and being energetic. Pero nung magkatinginan na kami, nawala na ang ngiti nya at agad nya kong iniwasan. 


I hate it. I don't like how it feels to be snobbed by her. Gusto kong magkaayos na kami. Gusto kong bumalik na kami sa normal. 


So after work, I waited for her at the parking lot. Tulad ng nakasanayan ko nang gawin, ihahatid ko sya pauwi sakanila. I will use that moment to talk to her and make up with her. 


Maya-maya ay nakarinig na ko ng usapan at tawanan ng mga babae. I looked at the entrance and there came out four of our lady staffs. Isa sakanila si Hazel. 


They all halted as they saw me. Mga nagbulungan din sila except kay Hazel na emotionless na nakatingin sakin. 


Nagpatuloy sila sa paglalakad. At nang madaanan nila ako, nagpaalam silang lahat sakin. Well except again for Hazel. 


"Hazel." I called her. 


Huminto ulit silang apat at tumingin sakin. 


"Uhm.. Ihahatid na kita." I told her. 


Napangiti ang mga kasama ni Hazel. Pero sya, emotionless pa rin ang tingin sakin. 


"No thanks, sir." WHAT THE? SHE CALLED ME SIR OUT OF WORK? 


"Hazel? C'mon, please. Sumabay ka na sakin. We need to talk." pakiusap ko pa sakanya. 


Nagtitigan kami. Pero sya ang unang sumuko sa pagtititigan namin. She looked away and...SHE QUICKLY WALKED AWAY TOO! 


Di lang ako ang nagulat sa biglang paglalakad ni Hazel palayo. Pati yung workmates nya, nagulat at nagpanic din. 


"Ah uhm Sir! Sige po! Bye!" paalam ulit ng isa sakanila. 


"Wag na po kayo mag-alala kay Hazel! Kami na po muna ang bahala sakanya!" sabi naman nung isa. 


"Mauna na po kami!" pahabol pa ng isa at sinundan na nilang tatlo si Hazel na mabilis na naglalakad. 


Tsk. Curses. Paano kami magkakaayos nito kung ayaw naman nya akong kausapin? 


Nakakainis na. But I didn't give up yet. 


Nung makauwi na ko sa bahay, tinawagan ko sya sa phone nya. Pero kinancel nya lang ang lahat ng tawag ko! Tinext ko rin sya. I said sorry and I begged her to talk to me. But again, she didn't bother to text me back! Kahit simpleng 'AYOKO', wala syang sinabi! 


Naisip ko, itext ko na kaya sakanya na gusto ko nang totohanin ang lahat samin? Na mahal ko sya at gusto ko syang ligawan? 

Hm, good idea! Nagtype na ko sa phone ko.

'Hazel. Pls, ayoko nang ganito ka sakin. Cause the truth is, I really love you and I want you to be my real girlfriend. Will you let me court you?' 

-- 

Nang maitype ko na yang message, BINURA KO RIN SYA AGAD WITHOUT SENDING IT TO HAZEL. Tsk. 


Para kasing mali eh. It's not right to confess through text. Baka mabigla sya at hindi na magpakita sakin bukas. I don't want that to happen. 


AH GOD DAMN IT. Sumasakit na ulo ko. Plus I'm already feeling tired. 


Padapa akong humiga sa kama ko at sinubsob ang mukha ko sa isang unan. Then I felt my phone vibrated in my hand. May nagtext! 


I turned my head to one side and I checked my phone. Nagtext na si Hazel! 


'Kakauwi q lng po sir.at inaAntok na q.gs2 q na matulog.kya sna po wg k na muna mangulet.PLEASE.' - Hazel 


Natulala na ko sa phone ko. Hanggang sa text, nararamdaman ko pa rin ang galit sakin ni Hazel. 


Hazel.. What do I have to do to make up with you huh? And will I ever be able to confess my feelings for you? 


I was asking those crazy questions to myself again and again when suddenly, I thought of one thing that I can do to make up with Hazel. 


Napangiti ako sa naisip ko. 


Bukas na bukas, gagawin ko yun. And I hope it works.
