Anette Thompson had been a lonely girl for most of her life. She never really had any friends and her family life was a mess. She lost her mother when she was only 5 and her father is an alcoholic who "never has time for her". She lives in a city just outside of Liverpool in a small, one bedroom apartment. She moved away from her dad when she turned 18 and it was the best thing that has happened to her, or so she thinks. She lives there with her one friend, Sarah Bellerose. Sarah has been friends with Anette since they were little kids. She has stood by Anette's side for as long as she can remember. She was the only one there for her when her mother died and she has been with her ever since. Together they have traveled to many places and done many things, including the one thing that changes her whole life. The date is November 8, 1963 and it is Anette's 21st birthday. Anette has been waiting for this day and it is finally here.

Anette's POV

Today was finally the day. I was turning 21. I was looking forward to this day for so long and I couldn't wait to get the day started. I jumped out of bed careful enough not to wake Sarah yet, for it was only 7 am. I normally slept in for a while but today I couldn't. I went downstairs to make some brekkie and try and start my day off right. A couple of hours later, Sarah awoke and she came downstairs yelling, "Happy Birthday Anette!!!" We gave each other big hugs and we started to discuss the plans we had for the day.

"So birthday girl, what would you like to do on this fine day?" Sarah said.

"Well, I'm not really sure. We could always go to the Cavern! I think there is a band playing there tonight called The Beatles."

"Ok! That sounds great! I think I have heard of them before!"

"What time shall we leave?" I asked.

"How about 6pm?"

"Sure that sounds great!" I was beyond excited and I could not wait for our outing. If I was to know what was going to happen, I would have been even more excited.

The time was now 5:30pm and I was rushing around the house like an animal trying to gather my belongings. I went in the bathroom to see how I looked and make sure that everything was alright.

"Annette, if you don't stop looking at yourself in the mirror then I'm going to have to take that mirror out of your bathroom!!"

"I'm sorry; I just want to make sure I look good! I can't go looking awful on my 21st birthday, you know."

"You look fine!" Sarah pleaded.

"Thanks, now let's get going before we are late!"

We rushed into my car, which wasn't a very nice one to say the least. We pulled out of the apartment driveway and we were off! However, I did not expect what was going to happen later that night.
