The next few days I continued my routine, only being interrupted by the mysterious boy that walked around the woods each day.
Instead of what normally happened in the woods, each day the mysterious boy did something different. The one thing that stayed the same was just before he disappeared to go back where he came from, he would stop and stare up at my platform, each day longer than the next.
It was the day before Halloween now and I was getting ready for the Halloween party, laying out my light blue jeans and stitch sweatshirt. I decided to stop by my platform to get a little more practice in before getting ready and leaving for the party, so I ran towards the woods taking off as I ran. I had to say, I was getting pretty good at this flying thing.
I flew to the platform quickly, not bothering to be stealthy because I knew the mysterious boy wouldn't be here, it just wasn't that time of day yet. I weaved through the trees, twisting and diving in between the branches and leaves of the trees. By the time I was nearing the platform, I was enthralled with the freedom I had at this time of day to fly about without fear of discovery.
As I was coming in to touch down on the platform I was rounding the tree trunk, not allowing me to see the platform. I landed so quickly that I stumbled forward a step of two. When I looked up, I was shocked. He was standing on the platform staring right at my and my wings.Mysterious Boy's P.O.V.
Ever since I had first sighted that platform up in the trees, it made me curious. Who would put it there? It intrigued me and I found myself staring at it more and more.
Today I had decided to escape my home earlier than normal; I wanted a chance to check that place out because recently I've felt as if I'm being watched on my walks.
It took me a good five minute to climb up the tree before reaching the edge of the platform to swing myself over to stand on the platform.
It was cozy with its birch like wood and fuzzy blankets, as well as two little boxes that I chose not to open. I didn't know who this belonged to but I was still going to respect them by not snooping trough their stuff.
After about ten minutes of being up there, I heard something, like a bird beating its wings up and down. I stood up quickly since those noises sounded like they were coming right towards me. And then it happened.
A girl flew around the corner of the tree trunk, yes she flew, and landed on the platform, her momentum causing her to stumble forwards a couple steps. She lifted her head and believe me when I say, I couldn't help but stare.
She has stunning chocolate colored eyes that matches the wings coming out of her back and there were tiny flecks of gold sprinkled throughout her eyes like stardust. Her hair was long and strait resting just below her waist, shining in the afternoon light, a golden caramel color with blond highlighting running through it. She had a shy smile before a look of shock crossed her face as she looked at me.
I had to say, she was beautiful in an amazingly beautiful way. I looked back to her wings again and they actually didn't look weird on her, they looked like they were made to fit her looks and probably her personality personally. I figured I had to say something to break the always silence, after all, this probably was her platform with all her stuff on it. So finally I managed to find my voice to say something.
"Hi."Grace's P.O.V.
I couldn't be anymore shocked. This boy I've been watching walk around the woods for days was suddenly on my platform. Though I was shocked I couldn't help but stare.
His hair has grown out a little more, covering more of his ears and forehead and his eyes were extremely unique. They were a hazel green in color, but more like they were a pale green with over laying light browns in many places, giving his eyes a uniqueness that I've never encountered before. He was shocked, but he was also staring at me. When I realized this, I felt myself blushing.
He was the first one to break the uncomfortable silence by being the first one to talk.
"Hi." His voice was very hesitant, like he wasn't really sure he was comfortable talking to me. His eyes flitted towards my back and that made me realize my wings were still in view. I quickly pulled them behind my back, trying to make them disappear. As soon as I had done that I could hear him chuckle, and I had to say it suited him pretty well. I could feel myself blush under his gaze. After a couple more minutes of awkward silence, I finally gathered my courage enough to say something.
"My name's Grace, how did you get up here?" His eyes widened as I spoke, as if he had assumed I wouldn't talk.
"I climbed up here of course, how else, besides your wings I mean," he replied. I defiantly had not expected that.
"I..." I didn't know what to say I was speechless. After another awkward minute, he turned and started climbing down the tree, of course me having wings, I didn't need to climb. I flew down to land beside him.
He shot me a lopsided smile and turned and walked away back to where he normally went. At the last second before he disappeared behind a tree, he turned around, lopsided grin still on his face and right before walking away he says "My name's Max, nice to meet you Grace."
He left me there dumbfounded, standing in the middle of the woods. I was aroused by the alarm on my phone meaning I had to get ready for the party tonight. I turned around and started flying on my way home, thinking of Max the whole time.
