Chapter 14

Dinner started five minutes ago and let me tell you, it's is so awkward it's unbelievable. We're just sitting here eating our food, nobody's said a word yet and now it seems that my mom would like to add more awkwardness to the conversation.
"Grace, how is Natali. I haven't seen her around here in three months," she said.
Oh my gosh she did not, she did. I can't believe her. First she drops in and eavesdrops on Max and I, then she invites him over for dinner though I am happy he stayed but mom keeps making it awkward, and now she thinks it's a perfect time to bring Natali into this (not my friend Natali, it's just the name I chose for the character). She's just making it even more awkward for Max, although he doesn't seem to mind that much but I think that's due to the fact that I have to endure this with him.
"Why do you ask mom?" I'm confused at why she would even bring it up in he first place.
"Because tomorrow night she's staying over since her parents are out of town and her brother is going back to collage before they can get back. They don't want her alone in the house."
Oh. Well that explains it. Natali's parents have never been people to leave her alone at home, not knowing what she would do there. Now this opportunity is presented to me to fix our friendship, I really do miss her company at school.
Anyways, I'm confused she would bring this up now. Well, she already did it so no going back now. Max in the other hand is actually starting to look comfortable in the same room as my mom. The rest of dinner passes by nicely and soon I've got to go walk Max back to the woods.

When I got back to my room I was soaked and exhausted from the day so I quickly went to bed. Before setting down completely, I mentally prepared myself for Natali coming tomorrow.

All morning I got the house ready and visited Max at lunch time instead of later because I still needed to finish cleaning up my room because it looked like a tornado went off in there. Finally at 5:00 the doorbell rang and I ran to get it. I pulled it open to see my friend looking at me hopefully since there was no Christina to dampen her spark.
