"I have to do this. I am sorry."
"Please don't! I'd die."
"You need to understand! I am done with this."
"NO!"
And I woke up with a loud shout. I was sweating and my heart was beating profoundly. What was that? A morning mare ? And who was that in my dream? Ugh! Can't the dreams be a bit more clearer?
I went into the bathroom, splashed some water on my face but I couldn't get that thing out of my head.
Just then the doorbell rang and I knew who it would.
As I opened the door, I saw a young man standing with....with the letters in his hand.
"Sir, your letter."
"Where is that old man?"
"He died yesterday of cardiac arrest."
Died? But he was all fit and fine till yesterday. I had met him 24 hours back. Life is just so unpredictable.
I took the letter from him and closed the door.
As I opened the envelope, I saw a locket inside. I took it out and saw it had a photo of a girl inside. That girl was pretty. Was she Emily?
Dear Stranger,
Hello! How have you been doing lately? I hope you are okay and everything is alright.
Remember this locket? This was the one I gave it to you on your 17th birthday. You had loved it so much that a tear drop had rolled down your cheeks. And after that you had crushed me into your arms. I still can't forget that day when you had said for the first time that we'll be together forever.
But the day before you left for New York, you had returned me back saying that you couldn't keep it as it was no longer important for you. I know you were just angry and so I am sending this to you again. I hope you'll at least keep it somewhere in your home even if you don't like it.
Anyways, I met a guy today. His name is Justin. He and I work together in a restaurant. He even lives nearby. He is really a sweet guy. But we are just friends and I know we'll be just friends always.
That's it for now, I guess.
Hope to see you soon.
I love you.
Yours
Emily
What am I to do with this locket?
