A man called Charlie fought along side an army trying to take over the kingdom of Hainan. They were told by their captain that the people of the kingdom were planning on traveling across the water to take their land for their own. After spending time with the people, Charlie saw that they were actually good people and that the captain was lying to them all. So he could have the beautiful island for himself.
One night the captain broke into the palace and tried to kill the emperor before the men found out that he was lying. Charlie stopped him by taking the blade into himself as he lunged towards him. The emperor killed the captain whilst he was destracted by the shock of killing his own man.
The emperor was so great full for Charlie's sacrifice that he decided to give him a heroes funeral. The emperor traveled threw the camp to the cliff top, where he will be placeing Charlie's body under a newly planted tree. He met an old women on his travel that showed a baby girl, then pointed to the man that saved his life. He was told that the baby was Charlie's and she will look for a home for her when they get back to their land.
To repay the favor of Charlie saving his life, he took the baby in to his home to save her life. The baby had no name, so the Emperor named her Charlie after her father. She is not of their blood and is a white women, but they still excepted her. They raised her practically as their own and she was trained to fight the samari way, so she can help to protect them. She does as she is told and in return they love and protect her just as she does them.
Charlie is now 17 years old and becoming more and more beautiful everyday. This doesn't please the princess, the Emperor's first born. She loves attention, but hated when other's have it too. Charlie didn't care for the attention. She loved being in the shadows. It gave her more freedom to be her own person, instead of a slave like soldier. The princess didn't see things that way. She saw Charlie as a threat and feared that she would take her place as queen one day.
Being a good girl was hard for Charlie, sometimes, but she tried her best. The emperor is a good man and saved her from a life of suffering, if she had of lived that long. She can now protect herself from harm and those she loves because of him. She knows that one day she will need to return the favor and she'll be ready for it. No matter what the cost.
