I picked out a black dress for the funeral. Damon was downstairs waiting for me and Elena was already at the grave. Everybody else was either there or on their way. I needed a little persuasion to go. I was in a dark place for the past few days. After seeing my brother and Klaus' betrayal, I took it harder than expected. Damon and I would have lazy mornings and he really helped me with my slight depression. I knew that I could never face Klaus again. Not after what he did to my friends and I. I looked in the mirror and saw a face staring back. It was Klaus.
"Leave or I'll scream," I said turning around. He had a blank face and I wondered what was wrong.
"I need you to talk to your friend. He seems to be a bit ill love."
I was confused and wanted to hear more.
"Stefan?" I asked.
He shook his head.
"Damon."
A knock sounded and it caused me to gasp in surprise. Damon came strolling in as Klaus zoomed out of my window. He saw my scared face and he gave me a sympathetic look. He must have thought it was because I was mourning for my friends and that I was hurt by my brother but mostly Klaus.
He gave me a tight and comforting hug as I buried my face in the crook of his neck. I felt the tears come creeping up on me and the sobs rose in my throat.
"I'm sorry. For everything."
I nodded my head in response. I had a gut feeling it wasn't about Klaus but how he had hurt me a few weeks ago with Rose. Speaking of her, I wonder where she went. She was no where to be seen. My mind wandered back to Klaus and what he said about Damon being ill.
I rested my hand on Damon's shoulder as he apologized once more. Damon nodded in response and we decided to drive to the funeral. Damon and I were silent half the way through when Damon came to a sudden stop because of a pedestrian. I got scared because I wasn't paying attention and I squeezed Damon's forearm. He hissed in pain from which I was confused.
"Damon are you okay?" I asked scared.
"I'm fine," he growled. I rolled my eyes at his terrible lying and rolled up his sleeve. He protested and pull his arm away from my grasp which pissed me off.
"Damon, what the hell?"
He grunted in response to my displease.
"Klaus said you were ill, what's going on?" I asked worried.
Damon had a mix of confusion and anger on his face.
"You spoke to Klaus!" He shouted.
"That is not the point. Tell me what's wrong!" I shouted back.
By this time we were at the funeral and driving in the parking lot. Damon pulled in and parked. I looked at him in wonder as he rolled up his sleeve to reveal something deadly. My dad used a venom on vampires as a slow torture method and killing method. He liked it as an alternative to the stake. This is what the wound looked like. All purple and swollen with the veins sticking out. I let out a sob and realized that Damon was dying.
"No," I gasped.
Damon looked me with a sad look on his face and nodded his head in despair. He knew of his fate as well as I did. I threw my arms around him and he did the same around my waist.
In my sobbing, I remembered my dad saying about a hybrid who could heal the wound. The name of Klaus rung a bell.
"Stefan's trying to find a cure but you and I both know there's not."
I pulled away and looked at his features. He definitely looked sick and was paler than usual. This bite was killing him but I knew that there was an antidote. Klaus' blood and I was going to get it no matter the price.
"We should go," He said. We both got out of the car and headed over to everybody who was now looking at us. I put on a fake smile for Elena who was tearing up as was everybody else. Bonnie ran over and gave me a comforting hug as did everybody else. Elena was the last one who gave me a hug and I held her tight.
"I'm sorry," I said into her ear.
"Me too."
We both started crying as we put roses on the graves.
Elena and Jeremy started crying as they put a rose on each of their parent's grave stones. Alaric and the two siblings put one on Aunt Jenna's. Stefan held Elena close as we walked to a new part of the cemetery. This was where my parents were buried next to each other. To think that they would be looking down upon me and seeing all these decisions I have made or what has happened made me sad. They must be a wreck to see that this is how life has treated me. I put down the two roses on both of my parent's grave stones. Damon put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I looked up for a split second and saw Klaus looking at me from a distance. I blinked and he was gone. I needed to talk to him even if I was hurt and never wanted to see him again.
Damon and I walked over to Stefan and Elena as everybody else left. Elena seemed torn apart inside and I felt bad. I know what it feels like to have everybody you love ripped away from you.
"I'm going to go wait in the car."
Elena walks sulkily to the car leaving the three of us to discuss Damon's problem.
"I haven't found anything yet. Bonnie's looking for a solution."
"Stefan there is no solution. Don't tell Elena, she doesn't need another grave to mourn."
I felt a pang in my chest. Elena? I was jealous. Apparently, Elena and Damon have been getting a little close for people who were in a relationship. It's fine I guess. I mean Damon and I are technically not in a relationship or anything. Maybe I'm overreacting.
Damon ran off leaving Stefan and I to talk amongst our selves.
"Stefan, I have to tell you something but promise me you won't tell anyone."
He nods his head, agreeing with me.
"I know a solution."
He instantly was more intrigued and looked at me to hear more.
"Klaus' blood is the cure."
"I need to see him then." He started walking away but I grabbed his sleeve, making him turn around.
"He won't give it to you but he'll give it to me."
"No I can't let you do that. Damon would kill me."
"Please, this is his only chance."
Stefan seemed hesitant but nodded his head. I grinned happily knowing that there was a chance to save someone I loved. I just hoped I could get the job done. Stefan told Damon and Elena that I needed some time to talk to him because I was hurting. Damon rode home with Elena as I drove with Stefan to Klaus' apartment. I wasn't overly ecstatic about Damon riding home with Elena but I was far more concerned about his health. I still thought it was me being paranoid about the two but I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was going on. Stefan told me some things and he was worried as well. I guess that gives me my lesson to never leave again.
I showed Stefan the way to Klaus' house but honestly, I was not much help. I'd only been to his house a couple of times and it's been a while since I'd last been here.
I was shaking with nerves and I wondered how this was going to go. Stefan put a hand on my knee to calm me down and it helped a lot to be honest. I was still a nervous wreck.
We walked up to Klaus' porch once we finally got there. Stefan stepped in front of me, shielding me for whatever Klaus was going to throw at us. Surprisingly, Katherine opened the door. She looked at me in awe and wonder as she eyed me up and down.
"You're suppose to be dead."
I rolled my eyes and Stefan did too.
"Katerina, who is it?" A British accent asked.
Katherine stepped aside as Klaus walked down the hall to the front of the door. He looked surprised to see me but happy at the same time and I saw guilt flash in his eyes as he looked at me. I couldn't help but stare into his eyes and take in his appearance. He looked good which I hated to say the least. I wanted him to suffer the way he made my friends and I suffer. I wanted, most of all, my brother to pay for what he's done and what he's taken away from the people I love. Speak of the devil, he walked out with Klaus. He smiled an evil smile as Klaus looked dumbfounded to see me.
"We need to ask a favor," Stefan stated. Klaus laughed and grinned in his face for the obvious reason.
"You tried to kill me, why should I give you anything?" He asked.
I tried not to look up at them anymore, instead I looked at Klaus' concrete porch. I could feel his eyes burning into me and I tried to ignore but couldn't and I met his gaze. The two blue orbs were like the ocean and it always reminded me of my mother. She always was going on about how much she loved the beach and the ocean.
"My brother is dying."
Klaus smiled with pleasure and at Damon's demise earning him a scoff from me.
"Anything you'd like to add?" My brother asked threateningly.
I was now pissed and definitely cocked to go into action.
"Yes. You two low life piece of shits have caused a lot of fucking grief for the past week and I'll be damned if I have to go through another death."
I'm sure if looks could kill, the two shit bags standing before me would be hanging by their feet right about now. Klaus and Chris started scowling making Stefan tense up and me as cool as a cucumber.
"'Now quit your little bitch session and kindly invite us in."
Katherine stood there bum founded not believing how I just stood up to the original hybrid and his bitch.
Stefan brushed past the two men and so did I, not wanting to stoop down to their level.
"So, you say Damon is dying but how can I help you?" Klaus asked.
I rolled my eyes and once again scoffed.
"You already know Klaus."
He turned his lips into a thin line as I talked back to him.
"Now what are you going to offer in return."
"Anything," Stefan answered.
Klaus thought for a moment then looked at me, his eyes meeting me right in mine. I sat confused but then quickly remembered what Klaus and I had discussed on the plane ride home.
"Brooklyn."
Stefan stopped breathing for a moment but I was not phased, I just took a deep breath before answering.
"Fine."
Stefan instantly turned his head around to face me and protested with all his might.
"No, That's not a choice."
"It's my choice."
Klaus poured his blood into a glass vile and put the cap on it when he was done.
"At least let me say goodbye."
Klaus snapped his fingers for Katherine and whispered into her ear giving her the vile.
Stefan walked out with us and suddenly we were gone. I realized I was on Katherine's back zooming to The Boarding house.
She let me down once we were at the front door. I opened the door to reveal an empty looking home and realized Damon must have been in his room. I just hoped I made it in time. I heard two voices in his room that stopped me dead in my tracks. Elena and Damon. I tip toed to see her holding him and I instantly stopped breathing just Sammy world stopped turning. She kissed him softly on the lips and I gasped in shock which made her stop and turn to looked Katherine and I. I almost dropped the vile but thankfully I was holding it tightly from the hurt.
Tears were coming out of my eyes but I tried to hold it in. I wasn't mad at Damon because he could barely move but I was mad at my best friend for doing this to me.
"Brooklyn I-"
"Save it."
I opened up the vile and set it on the desk to which was right by Damon's bed. I smoothed out his Raven black hair and kissed the top of his forehead letting out a couple of tears. I held the vile of blood to his lips letting him drink it from the glass. He opened his eyes and looked at me. I realized now that I wasn't in love with anybody but Damon and it hurt like hell thinking about leaving.
"I love you Damon. I won't ask you to wait for me but please just know that I love you. I'm sorry."
He looked confused but was too weak to say anything.
Katherine grabbed my arm but turned around before leaving.
"Oh and by the way Elena, you're much more of a bitch then I thought."
Katherine pulled me in her back and we zoomed out of there to the house. Tears streamed like rivers down my cheeks but stopped the sob show so that Klaus won't see my weakness. Goodbye life, goodbye Mystic Falls.
