The mountains caught my attention as Ray, who was our prisoner I guess, pointed us in the direction of the pack. The dirt kept kicking up and getting my skin dirty as we walked quickly. The trees were swaying as the hot wind was blowing and I was sweating like a pig. I never did well in hot weather and I felt really out of shape from all the sitting we did. Klaus strode with my brother so easily while I struggled to keep up with the supernatural beings. Ray pointed us in the direction in which we saw smoke from a fire blowing up into the sky. Ray looked distraught as we started walking, feeling as if he had betrayed his friends. He was walking limp from all the torturing we did to him and I ran to catch up with him.
"Are you okay?" I asked. He looked at me with a scowl but it started to soften after he saw the concern in my eyes. He looked really beaten up around his face with a hole from where the sharp art had punctured. He smiled softly at me as a sign of thanks for worrying about him.
"As best as I can."
He started continuing on focusing where his tribe was or pack or whatever he called it. Ray kept limping until he fell hard into the ground from being over tired. I instantly came to his aid as Klaus let out a loud sigh and didn't bother to help the poor wolf.
I could tell Ray was fading fast and we didn't have much energy left in him. I gave him water which he drank eagerly and he drank the whole bottle of water. Klaus sighed loudly again and my brother started to groan.
"Let's go, Ray," Chris ordered.
"No," I told him.
I looked back at him to see his reaction which was entirely priceless. His mouth was so open that you could fit a whole orange in it. He looked hilarious and it was hard not to laugh but I kept a serious face, not wanting to upset him anymore.
"Excuse me?" Chris asked. I stood up and went over to Klaus and Chris who were absolutely dumbfounded.
"No. He's fading fast. We need to take a break unless you want him passing out. You choose."
Chris looked angry while Klaus shook his head in agreement. Chris looked at Klaus as if he had three heads and Klaus glared at him. Chris shut his mouth quickly, not wanting to anger Klaus.
"You're right, Brooklyn."
Of course I was. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have said anything and Ray would have been in really bad shape. Chris sat there with a sour look on his face and resembled when a child was said no to by a parent. I wish Chris was just a harmless child but he's a feasting vampire willing to do anything to survive.
I helped Ray sit up and patted his back as he breathed heavily. He looked at me and signaled for me to come closer which I blindly did.
"Thank you," He said.
"I'm going to get you out of this."
I looked to Klaus to see if he heard but he was busy with Chris as they were talking about maps. I lucked out on that one.
He looked at me thankfully and I returned it with a kind smile.
"Alright, get up," Chris ordered.
"Shut it," I hissed. Chris looked at me again and it was a look of anger but he was harmless. Klaus would have his ass if Chris did anything to hurt me. He was Klaus' slave, forever in his favor and worshipped the ground Klaus walked on. He was his bitch.
I helped Ray up and we continued on the hike of despair.
Ray saw his people through the trees and I could hear his breathing pick up. He was trembling as we walked closer to the campsite full of friends and family.
"Hello, this won't take long," Klaus said. Everybody looked at Ray, worried of his safety and then back at the hybrid. They started to back up and tried to look for a way out but they were defenseless. Klaus always found a way to hurt people and he wouldn't stop.
"I need you all for a project if you will," Klaus spoke again. Everybody now had confused looks on their face as they glanced at everyone's faces. Klaus smiled seeing their confusion as amusing instead of letting guilt run through him.
"No takers? Alright."
Klaus sped up by Ray and bit into his wrist as fast as the speed of light. Blood ran down Klaus's hand as he grabbed Ray in a chokehold. Klaus shoved the bloody wrist into Ray's surprised mouth. A girl shouted from the crowd as Klaus made Ray drink which resulted in Ray screaming. I looked at the ground, feeling the guilt rush over, taking away my humanity each second. I stared at the brown dirt as I heard a snap which could've made a chiropractor cringe. I heard a thump and looked over by Klaus to see Ray unconscious.
"Now who's next?" He asks.
