I really shouldn't be bitting my nails.

Dropping my hand in frustration, I folded my arms and began shaking my leg in anticipation.

They should be back already. It was nearing two in the morning and still no word.

It had been four days since the incident with the rouges and there is still no sign of Helen. Zayne has been running himself ragged looking for her and I thought it would be best if I stayed here and wait.

"Alora, are you okay?"

Turning my head to the right, I saw Cole entering the room from the kitchen with a sandwich in hand. Plopping himself onto the couch across from me I watched him take a bite and look up at me expectantly.

"How can you be eating this late?" I asked as he tried the chew the food in his mouth.

"I eat when I'm anxious." Swallowing his food, he took another huge bite and continued starring at me.

"So, are you going to answer my question?" He asked with his mouth full.

Letting out a deep breath, I ran my hand through my hair and shrugged my shoulders.

"I don't know. They still haven't found anything and I've been doing nothing to help." I said bringing my hand up to my mouth.

I really need to stop biting my damn nails.

"Just because they haven't found anything yet doesn't mean that they won't." He said taking another bite.

"I know that. I guess I'm just afraid about what they might find." I said looking away.

"Alora, you can't blame yourself if that's what you're doing." Abandoning his sandwich, he crossed the room and sat down next to me.

"You don't understand Cole, I was there. I put her in that situation and than I left her." I felt a tear trickle down my cheek and quickly I wiped it away.

"What were you suppose to do Alora? If Helen thought she could do something to save you guys than that was her decision. She is a smart and intellectual girl who could make her own decisions. You didn't sign her death warrant."

Rolling my eyes, he didn't even know what he was saying.

"Cole, I know you're trying to help but just back off. You weren't there. You didn't hear the rouges chasing us or see the fear in her eyes. You weren't there to hear the crash as the ground literally caved in on her and killed her. You weren't there!" Shouting, I stood up from the couch and walked towards the windows. Anger was coursing through my entire body and I had to bite my tongue from saying anything further.

"You're right. I wasn't there." Calmly he stood up and faced me.

"I wasn't there so I wouldn't truly understand what it was like to go through that. However, I have lost people before and I know what death and pain feels like. I wasn't there but I know you still shouldn't blame yourself. Did Zayne ever explain to you what happened the night we realized you two were missing?" Shaking my head, I didn't dare turn around to look at him.

"We were out searching for you two. We went everywhere we could think of and I couldn't help but to feel hope every single time we stopped only to have it crushed that you guys weren't there. I was worried sick about you two. We all were!"
