The next morning I woke up sore with a raging headache.
Lying still, I thought back to the night and I knew it had to be a dream. Teenagers don't just turn into werewolves. I must be loosing my mind.
'It wasn't a dream Helen and you're not loosing your mind.'
'Thanks Rebecca for the reminder.' Sighing, I knew Rebecca was right. I really did turn into a wolf last night. Who would a thought a girl like me was "destined" for greatness in the form of a hairy dog.
'Don't call me a dog!' Rebecca let out with a vicious growl.
Chuckling to myself, I apologized to her and I could practically see her turning her nose up to me.
Rolling over, I looked at the clock and saw that it was already ten. I knew I had to get up but I just didn't want to.
"Helen, get up!! We have stuff to do today!"
Even though I didn't want to, it seemed that Alora did. Gently, I got out of bed and stumbled towards the bathroom. A hot shower would do my muscles some good and I needed to get all this dirt off of me before everybody saw.
After my shower, and in a zombie like fashion, I shuffled downstairs and entered the kitchen.
Right when I entered, both my aunt and uncle and even Alora all lifted their heads and sniffed. Thinking it must have been me, I quickly smelt myself and all I could smell was my pomegranate shampoo. Looking back at them, I saw confusion on all their faces and Alora quickly spoke up.
"I don't understand, she doesn't smell different."
My aunt looked at Alora with a look of agreement.
"Maybe she didn't inherit it. After all, her mother was human." My aunt answered looking at my cousin.
"What are you guys talking about? I’m standing right here you know!"
Jumping, the sound of my voice must have made them realize they were talking out loud.
All their eyes opened wide and they just continued to stare at me.
"Hello, any body there? You guys are acting really strange."
Choosing to ignore them, I walked over to the cabinet and pulled out a bowl and some cereal. Finally, they seemed to snap out of it and all began speaking at once.
"I'm sorry dear..." My aunt started.
"I didn't know I was...." Alora said cutting in.
"You know how women are, they are always talking nonsense..." My uncle said almost apologetically.
Laughing to myself, "It's okay guys. Nothing you said hurt my feelings anyway. What did you mean though that I didn't smell different?"
Chewing on my cereal, the three quickly looked at each other and Alora quickly answered.
"We were hoping you would wear the perfume we got you yesterday for your birthday. When you walked in, we didn't smell it so that's why we said you didn't smell any different."
"Mhhmm..." I nodded while chewing my cheerios suspiciously. "Whatever you say."
After finishing my cereal and everyone seemed to have calmed down. Alora turned to me and began to drag me out of the kitchen.
"Where are we going?" I asked while trying to pull my arm back.
"Well silly, school starts tomorrow and it will be the first day of our senior year. We have to go get you some supplies and find the perfect outfit. You always want to make a good impression on your first day!"
