I'm scared...
Running through the woods, I didn't know what was happening. I just appeared here as if I was coming out of a dream and I couldn't explain how. Not understanding what was going on, I quickly called out to Rebecca.
'What's going on?' I asked hopng she could provide an answer.
'I don't know Helen, I am just as confused as you are.' I could hear the quiver in her voice and knew something was wrong.
'Rebecca, why can't I stop running? It's like something is compelling me to keep going.'
I literally had no control over my own body. I kept tring to stop but it was as if I was simply a visitor in someone elses' body. Nothing I did worked.
'I think it's witchcraft Helen and strong magic too. How else could you have shifted?' She said.
'Witchcraft?!? So not only are werewolves real but witches are also? What next, Zombies?' I asked stunned.
'Don't be silly, of course zombies aren't real. That's just foolish!'
To be honest, ever since I shifted for the first time, it felt as if anything was possible. Choosing to ignore her comment, I was instantly pulled to my right and I began to run faster. The pull was becoming stronger and I knew we would be at our destination soon.
'Where do you think we are going Rebecca?'
'I don't know Helen but you must be on your lookout. I haven't taught you how to fight yet so we must be alert and ready to avoid anything that can cause us harm.'
Understanding her meaning, I gritted my teeth and began to pray. I wasn't ready to die just yet.
As we approached a clearing up ahead, I knew this was the same one from my dream.
'Rebecca, I have been here before. Well not really here, but in my dream I have. I think I know what's about to happen.' Thinking of the creepy man that visited me in my dreams, a cold shiver made its way down my spine and I couldn't help the fear that rooted itself inside me.
We made our way into the center of the clearing and came to an abrupt stop. Looking around, nothing seemed to be here. It was a new moon tonight so I could not rely on it's light. Opening my senses, I listened for anything that would alert me of a presence.
'Rebecca, something is approaching, and fast!' Panic began to bloom within my chest. I didn't know what was happening and I was scared!
'I know Helen, try to calm your fear. Allowing it to take over will not help us in this situation.
Listening to her advice, I took a deep breath and sat down. I had to get control of the situation. I knew Rebecca was right. Being afraid will not help us at all. I had to think clearly and be able to react to protect both Rebecca and myself. Being scared would not help me.
A minute later, I heard the crickets stop their song and all was quiet. Whatever was coming for us was finally here. Standing, I watched the perimeter of the clearing and that's when I saw it, gold eyes.
I knew those eyes, they were the eyes in the forest when I was younger, and they were the eyes that called for me. Unsure what to do next, I simply stared at the pair until finally the wolf appeared before me.
To say I was intimidated would be an understatement. This wolf was huge! His legs were at least as thick as a small tree trunk. His coat was a rich dark brown and his eyes were the purest gold I have ever seen. This wolf seemed to have radiated power and instantly I felt my legs buckling beneath me. Before I knew what was happening, I tucked my front paws beneath me and I was bowing to the wolf.
